Location:      Watermann Marina, 14302 Stewart Rd, Galveston , Texas 77554
Time:             Depart from marina at sunrise; return at 1pm  (then go out again if desired)

Trip Description: Day Trip; Boats and Kayaks

West Bay is a great early winter and winter spot; water clears up and has some great Fishing!  We will launch at sunrise at Watermann Marina. Boat $20 and Yak – $10.  My plan would be to come back about 1:00pm, I would invite everyone back to get a fishing report and have lunch. If you want to go back out feel free!

This location has several spots to fish for Yak and Boats – Galveston State Park- Dana Cove – Dalehite Cove – Eckart Bayou – Oak Bayou- Lake Como

  1. Looks like we are going to have a good day, as of today 12/8. I will check the weather on Thursday to see if we are still in luck!
    Sunrise 0700 and I would plan on being a t Waterman’s about 6:45 to 705 am winds at 8-10 mph 64 to 66 deg perfect
    H 1:57 am
    L – 10:17 am
    not a great day as to tide movement 1/2 ft
    My plan is to pole the Eckert bayou and maybe end up in Starvation cove, if nothing cooking move back to the State Park – Oak bayou – right now

  2. Gents
    We are going to have fog in the morning, be careful, Ben Hu fishing this morning  and I will get a report
    FYI  – Gary meeting at my house at 6 am and we are driving down together. We may end up fishing Greens Lake verse the Eckhart due to fog, will get a report and let you guys know later this afternoon

  3. Wrap up
    Got in the water 730, weather was perfect, a low tide with a high at 3 pm wind 10 to 12 mph and the water was sandy green / 64- 67 deg
    Gary & I put in at Watermans and Barry & Jim put in at Yak launch in Eckert bayou
    We poled the the following areas;
    Dalehite north shoreline just outside tubes= zero reds- one under size trout
    Eckert bayou south line and up into the pocket – some bait = zero reds-two undersize trout
    Mentzel Bayou & Starvation cove south line, just outside tubes = zero
    At 11 am met up with Barry & Jim and Gary & myself shares info, Gary Maler showed us number amazing flies he has tied – popper with trail and a few other for Reds
    11 :30 some rain headed our way and we decided to call it a day
    We gave a our best , but that why they call it fishing!!

    Heads UP = January has been Concealed , but Feb is on for Lavaca River
