Pot luck Friday night.
There is a REASON that the fishing on this trip has always been good to OUTSTANDING. it's because I always pick a weekend with excellent tides, and this weekend is no different. Most of us will launch from the Stingaree Marina and fish within a 1 to 2 mile radius.
The Lake Bastrop weekend trip was a huge success. We had ten people fishing Friday morning, six on Saturday, and two on Sunday. A variety of trailer dwellers, tent campers, and day trippers. Food was excellent, as expected. Shrimp jambalaya, dutch oven baked chicken, brownies, cookies, pie.....needless to say no one went hunger. The Texas … Continue reading Lake Bastrop Trip Report: Sept 27-29

Lake Bastrop - Sept 27-29 We will fish Lake Bastrop on Fri, Sat, and probably Sun morning. I have reserved two airstream trailers (Lady Bird and Blue Lacy (60 and 62) ) at Lake Bastrop North Shore Park for Fri and Sat nights. (Sept 28-29) My plan fish in the morning/afternoon on both Fri and Sat (and possibly Sun morning)....explore the whole lake. If you are not interested in camping overnight, come and join us for Fri or Sat or Sun. I have rented two of the campground "Airstream" trailers for Fri and Sat nights. (Lady Bird and Blue Lacy) Each trailer has two queen beds, and can accommodate four (4) people. The total (two day) cost for a spot in the trailer is $125. We will "share" dinner duties (most likely pot luck style), and leave breakfast and lunch up to the individuals. Please sign-up per the below, either via phone call to John Eldred or the Evite link. I will collect the $125 at the time you sign up (or as close as possible). The first eight (8) people to sign up AND pay will fill the trailers. Several of us made a day trip to Lake Bastrop earlier this year, and the lake is very fishable via kayak, canoe, or boat. All are welcome.
Brown and Root Flats, Aransas Pass / Rockport, Tx Saturday morning, we will launch from the beach into Brown & Root flats for a day of skinny water kayak & wade fishing in Aransas Pass. Cars/non 4x4’s can easily make it to the launch site. Usually we launch the kayaks at the water’s edge. About 4:00 pm, return to your vehicle.
Port Mansfield: This is a four night, 3 full days of fishing out of Port Mansfield. We have a waterfront condo for four....two queen beds in two bedrooms, full kitchen, 2 bath, pool, and boatslip. Cost is appx $337 each. (assuming four people). Fishing out of two (2) boats. Grass and sand flats, or jetties thru East Cut.
Lake Raven: Kayak/Canoe trip. I have reserved a Shelter site (S018) at Huntsville St Park for Fri and Sat nights. (July 12-13) My plan is to fish Friday and Sat, and overnight on both Friday and Sat. Fish in the morning/afternoon on both Fri and Sat....explore the whole lake. You can come Fri, Sat, or both....either spend the night, or just join for the day. Your option. The Shelter can accommodate "tent cots". I will set up my tent on the outside grounds. The site permit allows for eight (8) people. If more are interested, I will reserve individual tent sites and we can use the "shelter" as a common area. I am thinking of a "pot luck" type dinner on Sat (possible also Fri) if there is enough interest.
This is a 2.5 day trip to the Chandeleur Islands with DMJ Charters. Minimum 10/maximum 12 people. The trip is: Spend Sun night (May 12) on the "mother ship. Depart for Chandeleur Islands and fish on Mon, Tues, then Wed till 10am. Return to shore by 3pm Wed, May 15.
Lake Raven: This is a pure recon trip. I have never been there, but a coworker goes every year and raves about the fishing. Granted, he fishes from the bank with live bait. Reports say the lakes holds large bass and perch. (and has been known to be home to a couple of alligators) Fishing can be really good; it can also be very slow. Best time is early in the morning. The campground and lake are very nice...it will be a good paddle.
