This will be a one day event in Matagorda, Texas. 

TFF member Ron Ridgeway (Matagorda Loops Guide Service) will be attending. Ron was huge help at the TFF Casting Clinic we held last March, 2026. If you don’t have a boat and you want some guidance for part of the day, contact Ron through his website: https://matagordaloops.com.  If you never fished the area, get Ron to show you area and share the fee with a friend.

This a great bay to fly fish for Redfish and is about 1hr 30 m from downtown Houston. 

We will launch at Matagorda Harbor boat ramp (boats) and the Kayaks can use the Yak launches on the South end of the bay.

Please register below if you plan on coming. If you are interested in coming but do not have a boat or kayak, please give me a call and I will be happy to match you up with someone who is attending.

July 17 – 19:     Aransas Pass

  – The house is sold out but there are plenty of hotel rooms. For those staying in a hotel, you could join us at the House for dinner for both nights for a fee of $15 / night.

August 8: East Matagorda Bay – Open Fishing Day

September 18-19, Redfish Rodeo:     Rockport ,TX         

• Captain’s Meeting on 9/18 at 6 pm.   
• This a NO for hire GUIDE tournament.
• Tournament is on 9/19.  Times to TBD but estimate 6:30 am flies in water and 3 pm flies out.
• Dinner will be at 6 pm on 9/19. Prizes will be in the bulletin,
• $50 / fisherman fee.

• TFF needs a minimum of 25 members and guests of members to sign up.

This trip could also serve as an excellent scouting opportunity for our Redfish Rodeo on September 19.

We are sold out at the house, but please feel free obtain your own lodging in Aransas Pass. Please join us

for dinner both nights, but you need to RSVP by 7/14. ( dinner $15/night)

This area offers miles of fishable water, beautiful scenery, and some of the best opportunities for redfish, trout, and other coastal species on the Texas coast.

The Saltwater July outing is being held July 17 – 19 out of Aransas Pass, Texas.   Launching out of Conn Brown Harbor  (see red dot next to HEB on aerial map below).

We will have access to miles and miles of gin clear water flats, Redfish, Bay , South bay,  Behind the Lighthouse, Brown & Root, just to names few.

I have fly fished this area since the 1980’s. it beautiful, but it now has a great number more people fishing it.

The house for 7 people is fully rented for the weekend (red circle with pin inside it). However, you are encouraged to come and stay at a nearby hotel. For those staying in a hotel, please feel free to join us at the rental House for dinner for both nights for a fee of $15 / night. Let Jim Darby know to RSVP in advance so Jim can purchase enough food.
