MEETING UPDATE: April 28th, 2026, change in location, date, and time

Because of the noise issues we have had in the last 2 locations we tried, we have a NEW MONTHLY MEETING LOCATION, DATE, and TIME FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE starting with the April 28th, 2026 monthly meeting. The new details are:

Date: Last Tues of each month
Time: 6-9pm (6-7: Social hour; 7-9 Meeting)

Location:
St. Thomas Presbyterian Church, 14100 Memorial Dr. Houston, TX  77079 Google maps

Social Hour: 6-7 pm
We will have a “social hour” from 6-7. Time to reconnect with friends, tell stories about life, fishing, etc. WE also plan to have some of our local fly tiers on hand demonstrating some tips and tricks.

Meeting Start Time: 7-9 pm
The meeting will begin promptly at 7pm and run no later than 9pm (most likely 830pm). The format will remain the same. Meeting will start with introduction of new attendees, reports outs from the various chairs (outings, finance, membership, etc), then the guest speaker.

We will continue to announce the monthly speakers with “posts” prior to the meeting.
Look forward to seeing you there.

Launch will be at either Louis’s Bait Camp or Harbor Walk Marina in Hitchcock — I’ll decide closer to the date based on conditions.

Fishing areas will include Highland Bayou, Jones Lake, Basford Bayou, Greens Lake, and the Highland Diversion Canal.

Plan is:
Launch at 6:30 AM

Meet up for lunch between 12:00–1:00 to regroup and decide the afternoon move.

I’ll plan to meet the yaks for lunch so we can picnic on my boat like we’ve done in the past

FW Outing: Update for JSSFS 2025, Mom’s Day Special

Now that we have been reminded that this is the Saturday before Mother’s Day, we knew we had to do something to celebrate. For this year’s event we have a special deal for Mom’s, (current members of Texas FlyFishers), attending the event.

Bring your kid, or kids, and get in free!

OK, bring your grandkids, and the same applies.

Report: Pop-up to D7Ls 2024-12-19

The plan was to meet-up at 1000 and fish as long as we could.

The weather was perfect, and there was almost no wind.

Glenn, Paul, and Puck all were on the water by 1015. Glenn in a T120 with Paul and Puck in a 2-person pontoon.

Over 35 fish were caught. It was a mixture of LMB, bluegill, and redear.

Effective flies for the day were, a variation of the squirmy worm, STP frogs, spiders, and a few others.
