Q and I took a road trip with a few ideas in mind: Find a place to launch a kayak in support of https://texasflyfishers.org/2023/01/13/prison-permit-roundup-2023/ Run down the beach and see if we can a place to launch kayaks to fish the SW corner of East Matagorda Bay Get as close as we could to our marked honey hole by travelling down the beach Identify any costs that outsiders, such as us, would not normally know about. Here is what we learned:
Lake Fayette day trip, Wed, Oct 26. Trip Lead John E.
Fishing can be really good; it can also be very slow. Best time is early in the morning. It will be a good paddle. See post.
Sun, Aug 21: This is a day trip to Drum Bay and Swan Lake. This area is just a quick drive from Houston, and an even shorter drive from Galveston. Great for both boaters and kayaks, the habitat type in this area is condusive for reds, specks, and flounder. Come join us for a day on the water!
See Post for more details.
TRIP REPORT: A great day at Blue Roan Bend. Fifteen kayakers and float tubers made it out to the 280 acre lake. We were met by our host, Newell Atkinson, and he gave us a history of the area and a perspective of the lake. Quite the Texas history surrounding this property and area - an incredibly nice ranch. See the TFF post for details.
September 09-10 Cavasso Creek
This is an overnight trip to Cavasso Creek and the greater St. Charles Bay area. We will stay in Fulton, Rockport, or Holiday Beach at an AirBnB. Anyone arriving early on Friday is welcome to check into the AirBnB and fish. No AirBnB picked out yet, but I'm going to try and get a spot with a dock and lights for some night fishing fun. Trip Lead: Taylor Guest. Further details on TFF post:
May 20-22 South Llano:
Our annual South Llano weekend was a great trip. We fished both Friday and Saturday, and the fishing was outstanding. Granted it was a little hot, but the cool water and hot fishing made it worth the trip. We will do it again next year!!! Details below on the full post
July 16: Blue Roan Bend Outfitters have graciously offered TFF members a free day trip to a 280 acre private lake. The lake is full of a wide variety of fish, including bass, panfish, catfish, etc. It has a concrete boat ramp which will make an easy launch for your kayak or canoe. Bank fishing is possible, but will be much less productive. Here is the link to the Blue Roan Bend website: https://www.blueroanbendoutfitters.com/fishing/
See the TFF post for full details or contact trip lead John Eldred
