Event: Fence Lake, Rockport,Texas
Trip Description: Sight fish for Redfish and Speckled Trout in the clear shallow flats of Fence Lake. A kayak is required for this trip; boats are not an option. Kayaks are available for rental in Aransas Pass. We will be ferried over to Fence Lake aboard the Skimmer, which can carry up to 12 anglers, gear and kayaks. We will be dropped at the entrance to the lake at first light and will be picked up for the return trip to Fulton harbor around 3pm. We will hopefully organize a group dinner for Saturday evening (details to follow). If enough people are still in the area on Sunday morning, we can organize a kayak trip in Lighthouse Lakes/Brown and Root.
When: Saturday July 26th. Meet at Fulton Harbor at 5:30am. We will return around 3:00pm. Additional options to fish are available on Sunday July 27th for those still in the area.
Where: We will meet up at the Skimmer’s dock, located at Fulton Harbor, directly behind Charlotte Plummer’s Seafood Restaurant, 202 N. Fulton Beach Road, Rockport, Texas. As you come in to Fulton on HW35. Turn left on Cactus Street and go appx. ½ mile to Fulton Beach Road. Cross Fulton Beach Road and just behind the restaurant to the left is the Harbor and the Skimmer. This is where I’ll collect your filled out Waiver of Liability and your ferry fee. Once we have the kayaks and gear loaded, we’ll shove off.

Cost: $50 per angler. Payable in cash, Venmo or Zelle to the trip leader. This will cover your portion of the ferry service aboard the M/V Skimmer. This is to be paid the morning of the outing. Note: The rate based on a minimum of 10 people. If we are fewer people then the cost per-person will be higher.
About the area: Fence Lake is a relatively small and shallow bay nestled along the western shore of St. Joe’s Island. This, combined with the grassy bottom keeps the water clear and should allow you the opportunity to sight cast to fish. The numerous fingers and creeks should provide ample opportunity to explore the area and enjoy a peaceful day of fishing as most boats will not be able to access the area.
