Catching a little brown, trying to catch a Rio Grande cuthroat.

Fishing the Pecos River at about 7,500 ft elevation at 18 miles above Pecos NM. Weather is 60 to 75 deg. With a rain shower every afternoon. Have caught and released over 30 trout, but no Rio Grande cut throats….
Kept and ate a few rainbows for dinner. Caught some lovely Browns which have naturalized up here to the detriment of the native cuthroats.Great place to be when Texas is too hot to fish.

  1. I am glad you are having great fishing on the Pecos. The photo attached is my personal best trout, a 25.5” rainbow caught on private water near Tererro with guide Dirk Kortz in Aug 2007 on a trip with my son. Caught the fish after a brief downpour that muddy water a bit.

Just to give you some incentive. 😊
