Lake Bastrop – North Shore Park, Fri-Sun Sept 27-29, 2019 (UPDATE)

Lake Bastrop - Sept 27-29 We will fish Lake Bastrop on Fri, Sat, and probably Sun morning. I have reserved two airstream trailers (Lady Bird and Blue Lacy (60 and 62) ) at Lake Bastrop North Shore Park for Fri and Sat nights. (Sept 28-29) My plan fish in the morning/afternoon on both Fri and Sat (and possibly Sun morning)....explore the whole lake. If you are not interested in camping overnight, come and join us for Fri or Sat or Sun. I have rented two of the campground "Airstream" trailers for Fri and Sat nights. (Lady Bird and Blue Lacy) Each trailer has two queen beds, and can accommodate four (4) people. The total (two day) cost for a spot in the trailer is $125. We will "share" dinner duties (most likely pot luck style), and leave breakfast and lunch up to the individuals. Please sign-up per the below, either via phone call to John Eldred or the Evite link. I will collect the $125 at the time you sign up (or as close as possible). The first eight (8) people to sign up AND pay will fill the trailers. Several of us made a day trip to Lake Bastrop earlier this year, and the lake is very fishable via kayak, canoe, or boat. All are welcome.

Kayak/Canoe Lake Raven – Huntsville St Park, Fri – Sat, July 12-13, 2019

Lake Raven: Kayak/Canoe trip. I have reserved a Shelter site (S018) at Huntsville St Park for Fri and Sat nights. (July 12-13) My plan is to fish Friday and Sat, and overnight on both Friday and Sat. Fish in the morning/afternoon on both Fri and Sat....explore the whole lake. You can come Fri, Sat, or both....either spend the night, or just join for the day. Your option. The Shelter can accommodate "tent cots". I will set up my tent on the outside grounds. The site permit allows for eight (8) people. If more are interested, I will reserve individual tent sites and we can use the "shelter" as a common area. I am thinking of a "pot luck" type dinner on Sat (possible also Fri) if there is enough interest.

Texas FlyFishing Padre Island National Seashore 2019 Surf Fishing Trip, 2019-09-13

TFF PINS 2019-09-13 through 2019-09-15. We will take four-wheel drive vehicles down Padre Island National Seashore during the anchovy migration, and target blitzing schools of ladyfish, jacks, redfish, and tarpon. •  When the club did this trip in September, 2006, 14 anglers hooked 8 tarpon. Countless large ladyfish were brought to hand, as well as some big jack crevalle. • In 2014, there were 7 anglers.  Ladyfish and jacks were the most caught species.  Whiting also brought to hand.   We saw redfish, but didn’t hook up. • In 2016, there were 10 anglers.  Ladyfish and jacks were the most caught species.  Whiting, redfish, bluefish, spanish mackerel, trout were also brought to hand.   One shark hooked, but  not landed.

Report out: Lake Raven – Huntsville St Park, Fri, May 3, 2019

Lake Raven: This is a pure recon trip. I have never been there, but a coworker goes every year and raves about the fishing. Granted, he fishes from the bank with live bait. Reports say the lakes holds large bass and perch. (and has been known to be home to a couple of alligators) Fishing can be really good; it can also be very slow. Best time is early in the morning. The campground and lake are very nice...it will be a good paddle.

Rescheduled: 5th Annual Clark Thornton Memorial San Marcos River Trip, 2019-Oct-5

Skip is the trip leader for the 5th Annual Clark Thornton Memorial San Marcos River Trip, rescheduled for Oct 5 2019. The 5th Annual Clark Thornton Memorial San Marcos River Trip will be on Oct 5th, 2019. As in the past, this trip we will tag along with Texas Hill Country guide, Kevin Hutchison. Kevin can answer any questions you have regarding your morning fishing, so you are well prepared for the afternoons fishing. We will be fishing mainly for bass and brim. The San Marcos is a spring fed river which gives the water a clarity that makes it one of the nicest rivers in Texas.  For those who want to come out the night before, we will reserve a camp site at the Shady Grove campground, 9515 FM 1979, Martindale, TX. 78655. If you are in need of a kayak or just camping out for the night, you must make arrangements with Pat prior to arrival. Their phone number is (512) 357-6113.
