Finished Chernobyl Ant
I don’t know why I stopped tying this pattern years ago, but last week I was reminded, by a chunky small-mouth bass, just how effective it is. Here is how I tie it:
Hook: Mustad 9672 size 6
Thread: Size “A” rod wrapping thread, color to match bottom foam
Body: 1/8 ” foam, 2 colors, dark and light
Foam glue: Contact cement
Legs: Silicone bass skirt
Finishing glue: Flexible cement of your choice (I use “booger glue”)

Glue 2 colors of 1/8″ foam together

Cut out the bodies

Pinch foam at first tie-in

Hold lLegs at first tie-in point

Legs at first tie-in point

Fold legs in half

Cut legs at halfway point

Hold lLegs at first tie-in point

Legs at first tie-in point

Cut head off at this point
Trout flies first, next trout!

I posted Martin’ “Miss Pinky” 🙂
I have a sculpin pattern that I’ve been working on that I will share once I get comments back from my “editors.”
Will that be “trout” enough?

Just sayin’, you may turn into a trout fisherman in your sleep.
