Getting the word out for this organization. This is a great service to give back to First Responders. This encompasses Police, Fire, Medical, Military, Veterans, and others. I encourage you to visit their website for more information.
Our sponsors and partners allow Good Fly to do work in ways no other vehicle can. Foundations, individuals, institutions, and businesses all benefit from helping our community be healthier and giving them the opportunity to deal with the stress that traumatic conditions bring. If you are an entity that believes as we do that only other humans can help our fellowman, please consider joining us and lend us your considerable influence to bring wellness to our communities. We accept monetary donations, branded equipment, and in-kind services. You or your organization will be prominently acknowledged like those shown below.
Volunteers are the heartbeat of Good Fly. We have many volunteer roles including:
- Manning check-in and registration tables
- Unpacking and assembling equipment.
- Serving as ambassadors at informational Casting Fairs
- Fishing assistants helping participants experience the thrill of the tug of a fish on the line.
- Servers for lunch and water breaks.
- Good listeners that lend a friendly ear to someone struggling to cope with traumatic stress.
Here are a few events that have been successful and I am asking anyone with Texas Flyfishers to volunteer. https://www.goodfly.org/media
Research indicates that First Responders in our communities are at an increased risk of stress, anxiety, and depression. Law Enforcement, Fire Protection and Military personnel protect our freedoms, our lives, and our property, and in so doing, experience sustained and sometimes intensely stressful situations.
These are the heroes we seek to support.
The Program…
A Free, One-Day Fly Fishing Workshop hosted by FFI Certified Casting Instructors
The art of fly casting has long been known to reduce stress and anxiety. The rhythmic, meditative-like cadence of the casting stroke, and the required focus, are naturally therapeutic.
