Lavac River fishing report
The clubs “Meet Me at the Dock” works …. I did not have to fish alone.
Two kayakers fished the Lavaca River post cold front. Day started iffy with an 8 weight left at home resulting in Russel using a 5 weight. Scott left his fishing bag at home that had all his fly fishing stuff. Luckily, his hat had a few flies in it that worked okay.
Day started extremely slow with no fish activity; 1 bite between the two of us for 1.5 hours. The bite turned on at 1030 and lasted until 1200. Mid teens quantity of fish were caught before the bite shutdown as if a switch was thrown. Best fish was a 17” spec.
We had 2 conventional fisherman in a boat nearby for 10 minutes. 3 other boats sped by us in search of fish miles from the launch. We basically had the river to ourselves.
Note to self: leave floating line at home; go with a full sink and an intermediate next time
