Materials:

Hook: Size 10-12 light wire dry fly hook (94833) Thread: Size 6/0 or 3/0 thread, black
Eyes: Brass Bead-chain eyes
Tail / Body: Black zonker strip
Adhesive: CA glue

Apparently it’s as simple as 1-2-3.

For those who don’t want to read and don’t mind listening to Puck here’s the Vimeo video

1. Tie in the bead chain eyes about ¼ inch back from the hook eye.

 

 

2. Tie in the zonker strip at the front of the eyes, and bind down to the end of the shank.

 

 

3. Cut the skin of the zonker strip. Bring the thread back to the head and tie off. Add a drop of glue, and it’s done.

 

The Ligon

The Ligon was originally tied by Arcardo and Peck.  I use it for bass and large bluegill. Puck

Materials:
Hook: Mustad 3366A size 6-10
Thread: Black 6/0 thread or larger
Weight: Lead wire (optional)
Body: Extra large chenille
Legs: Rubber legs
Wing: Squirrel tail

Instructions:

1. Tie the chenille in behind the hook eye.

2.  Wrap the chenille down on past the bend of the hook.

3. And then spiral the chenille back forward to the eye.
4. Tie off the chenille and cut.

5. Tie on a pair of rubber legs to either side.

6. Tie on the squirrel tail just behind the eye, with the tips extending out over the hook eye.
7. Bend the squirrel tail fibers back and tie down.  Whip finish and glue.
8. Split the legs and trim to length, if required
