Texas FlyFishers of Houston Event: Harmon Creek Campground and Marina: upstream of Lake Livingston, White bass
Trip Description: Fishing for white bass as they run up Harmon Creek out of Lake Livingston on their spring spawn. Cabins (and tent sites) available for Fri and Sat (12-13). Will overnight on Friday and Sat, fishing on Sat. (and Sunday for the hardcore fishers). Advance, non-refundable payment required for space in the cabin (s). Saturday night Pot Luck dinner.

About the area: Chasing white bass as they run up the Trinity River out of Lake Livingston on their spring spawn. A boat, or kayak, is needed, or chip in and ride with one of the captains.

Recommended guidelines for participants:
• Notify the trip leader if you have any potential concerns
• If inexperienced, then buddy up.
• Have proper safety equipment
• If you are boating or kayaking, inform the trip leader of your float plan if planning to fish alone or longer then the designated times.
• Sign in and sign out at the launch site. Inform the trip leader if you will be launching in a different place.

I never been, would my float boat work.. do I have to travel far.. to get to the fish? Battery issues.
Joe Nicklo used a battery on his kayak to go up and back. He had no problem with battery. He does have a Pulse Width Modulator control on his motor.
Report on 3/4 scouting trip
Five of us went: Paul Robertson, Steve Tomlinson, Howard Finley, Joe Nicklo, and Ken Kosut.
Water condition: it was a little higher than last week—my guess is 4-6 inches. We did not have to get out of the kayaks at all. I never really hit bottom. Fins on my Hobie only hit bottom a couple of times. Water is quite dirty. I checked the water temp in the morning and it was 58 degrees on the bottom. Four of us went upstream. I think Ken went downstream and I do not know how he did.
We found the fish finally…way on up past the blue hole and around that camp that is on the right….and some up a little further. I think between the four of us (not sure about Ken) we landed in the neighborhood of 50+ fish. Some were real monsters. I lost several big ones right at the kayak. Females are full of eggs.
My fly for the day — orange/white craft fur with copper flash micro clouser. I think Joe was using a pink/orange micro clouser. I believe Howard said he was using a white/natural deer hair micro clouser.
