Trip Description: This trip has been cancelled. Jan 21 recon has the river high and muddy, with more rain expected on Sat.
Fish the Lavaca River near Lolita, Tx. We will launch at the FM 616 boat ramp just west of Lolita, Tx. Boats are preferable, but kayak fishing also available. A variety of species inhabit this water, to include those typically thought of as saltwater. Photo proof of the number of species, length etc. This will allow bragging rights later. • Current Texas Fishing License
• Extra change of dry clothes
• Wind and/or water proof jacket
• Wide brimmed hat AND polarized glasses
Recommended Equipment: Boat, canoe or kayak. All will work in this water.
Recommended Flies: Clousers, poppers, RFC, Small streamers, Gurglers, etc.
Recommended guidelines for participants:
• Notify the trip leader if you have any potential concerns
• If inexperienced, then buddy up.
• If you are boating or kayaking, inform the trip leader of your float plan if planning to fish alone or longer then the designated times.
• Sign in and sign out at the launch site. Inform the trip leader if you will be launching in a different place.
On Saturday, 9th of January of 2021, the sun will rise in Port O´Connor at 7:19 am and sunset will be at 5:47 pm. In the high tide and low tide chart, we can see that the low tide will be at 7:59 am and the high tide will be at 8:56 pm. The Lavaca river is full of trout and some reds.. it’s going to be 70 degrees and a slow incoming tide all day.. Tide movement is slow good for Kayak , I use it with my boat drift along the bank for casting an use trolling motor just for maneuvering corrections. .. https://tides4fishing.com/us/texas/port-o-connor. POC from Lavaca is about 15-20 miles. Water Temp is 58 deg. it will warm during the day.
Went to Lavaca River with granddaughter.. 20 to 30 mph winds prefrontal .. Water is excellent shape..Every Clear.. Even with the winds..

Sorry we had to postpone. Don checked it out this morning and it was high, muddy and running fresh. I’d hate for us to drive down there just to go for a boat/kayak ride. We will try again on the 23rd. Hope everyone can make it.
Keep an eye on the weather. We should know more Wednesday/Thursday about fishability.
