Trip Description:

This is not a wading or fish from the bank trip.  It is a kayak and/or boat event.

The Beach house “Playing Hooky” has been rented for Thursday 2:00PM Oct 29 through Sunday Nov 1 2:00PM. The cost of the trip will be the same if you come Thursday, Friday or some time on Saturday.  Dinner Thursday will be Dutch Treat at one of Bolivar’s restaurants (TBA) at 6:30 to 7:00 PM.  Friday night will be POT LUCK (BRING A DISH TO PASS) along with Puck’s Famous Brats Sausage.   Breakfast on Fri., Sat. and Sun as well as the Saturday night Fish Fry Feast, will be a group effort.  Please pitch in to help with prep, cooking and cleanup.  The Breakfasts and Fish Fry is included in the price of the trip.  Each person is expected to BRING A DISH TO PASS for the Fish Fry and contribute Fish. The house needs to be empty and CLEAN by 2pm Sunday. Help with this is greatly appreciated!

The house has two queen beds and eight total bunk beds, toilets, hot showers, kitchen etc. ATTENDANCE IS LIMITED TO 13 PEOPLE, 14 (IF 2 SLEEP IN 1 QUEEN). YOUR BED IS NOT RESERVED UNTIL TFF GETs YOUR CHECK FOR PAYMENT IN FULL. Please don’t wait till the last minute.  YOU DO NEED TO BRING PERSONAL TOWELS, SLEEPING BAG OR BED LINEN, AND MOST IMPORTANT – EAR PLUGS. Sleeping arrangements are cozy and SOME of us do snore! Because of the sleeping situation.

PAYMENT DETAILS:  Make check payable to Texas Flyfishers of Houston.  Mail check to John Eldred.  CALL JOHN ELDRED for mailing address details.  (nineO7) tree O1 tree 5 nine 5.  You are NOT reserved until check is received…

ALL members signed up to fish on this trip but could not get accommodations are welcome to come by and join us for dinner, or just visit. Since this trip is a community effort, I will be asking everyone to bring a dish to pass for the Saturday fish fry – a salad, dessert, side dish, drinks, ice, snacks etc. I will contact you about this closer to the event. I will take care of plates, cups, plastic ware, napkins etc.  The breakfasts are for the members sleeping at the Beach house.

Most of us will launch from the Stingaree Marina and fish within a 1 to 2 mile radius.

Entry to Marshes – The nearby marsh should be filled with redfish and flounder and even large black drum for those who wish to go on a Texas sleigh ride!

Straight out from the marina launch then left into the marsh 1/3 mile

Take a right (half circle) from the launch and stay to the right side on the intercoastal .5 to 1.5 miles

Cross the intercoastal directly across from the marina and going NNE 1 mile (Yates Cove) or another marsh entry .7 miles further.

  1. Interested but would be the only lady angler. Was wondering if I might could get my own accommodations elsewhere and buddy up with a boat?
I’m kinda new to the fly fishing world so I’d love to go and learn everything I can.
Is this something y’all could accommodate?
