Trip Description:
The Beach house “Playing Hooky” has been rented for Thursday 2:00PM  March 15th through Sunday March 18th 2:00PM. The cost of the trip will be the same if you come Thursday, Friday or some time ON Saturday.  Dinner Thursday and Friday night will be Dutch Treat at the Stingaree Marina restaurant. We can go as a group and I will reserve a table for us starting at 7:30.  Breakfast on Fri., Sat. and Sun as well as a Saturday night Fish Fry Feast, will be a group effort.  Please pitch in to help with prep, cooking and cleanup.  The Breakfasts and Fish Fry is included in the price of the trip.  Each person is expected to bring a dish to pass for the Fish Fry and contribute Fish. The house needs to be empty and CLEAN by 2pm Sunday. Help with this is greatly appreciated!

The house has two queen beds and eight total bunk beds, toilets, hot showers, kitchen etc. ATTENDENCE IS LIMITED TO 10 PEOPLE, 12(IF 2 SLEEP IN 1 QUEEN) OR 14 (2 COUCHS). YOUR BED IS NOT RESERVED UNTIL TFF GETs YOUR CHECK FOR PAYMENT IN FULL. Please don’t wait till the last minute.  YOU DO NEED TO BRING PERSONAL TOWELS, SLEEPING BAG OR BED LINNEN, AND MOST IMPORTANT – EAR PLUGS. Sleeping arrangements are cozy and SOME of us do snore! Because of the sleeping situation.

ALL members signed up to fish on this trip but could not get accommodations are welcome to come by and join us for dinner, or just visit. Since this trip is a community effort, I will be asking everyone to bring a dish to pass for the Saturday fish fry – a salad, dessert, side dish, drinks, ice, snacks etc. I will contact you about this closer to the event. I will take care of plates, cups, plastic ware, napkins etc.  The breakfasts are for the members sleeping at the Beach house.

There is a REASON that the fishing on this trip has always been good to OUTSTANDING. it’s because I always pick a weekend with excellent tides, and this weekend is no different. Most of us will launch from the Stingaree Marina and fish within a 1 to 2 mile radius.

Entry to Marshes – The nearby marsh should be filled with redfish and flounder and even large black drum for those who wish to go on a Texas sleigh ride!

Straight out from the marina launch then left into the marsh 1/3 mile

Take a right half circle from the launch and stay to the right side on the intercoastal .5 to 1.5 miles

Cross the intercoastal directly across from the marina and going NNE 1 mile (Yates Cove) or another marsh entry .7 miles further.

More details will be posted as they are available

  1. Prison Permit this year should be in February? The Houston Fishing Show is week before this outing so that’s cool. Can boats on trailers be parked at Lodge? There is not a driveway at this lodge. BBQ and plenty of shade outside under decks, Seems like you’ve priced the beds for summer rates maybe? March will be winter rates in effect.
