The 2017 Port O’Connor “Una Mosca”

The event’s itinerary goes something like this…

Thursday and Friday July 27 and 28…Pre-fishing POC fun for all that can get away and join us.

DIRECTIONS TO HQ

You will come into Port O’Connor on Hwy. 185 (Adams Street) continue ahead thru town (past Speedy Stop, past Josie’s, till you see the Catholic Church on your left side) turn right onto Washington Street (one street before you drive right into West Bay!).  Go two blocks, at Intersection of Olive and Washington Streets turn left onto gravel driveway.  Les’s house is on the right side of drive.  Address is 301 Washington Street. The event is a BYOB, food is provided – as long as you have confirmed your attendance!  If you don’t let us know your coming…well you know what you should expect!

If you need lodging…get it.

Friday night the Captains meeting will be held at the event HQ from 6 – 9 PM. I’m thinking there could be some steaks, baked potatoes and fresh green salads being prepared for those who let us know they are coming.  We’ll be doing a Calcutta too.  Saturday’s event – Fishing begins at 6:00 AM until 4:00 PM.  Please make sure everyone on your boat has their state license up to date.

This is an Inshore – CPR event, which means inside the Jetties or Pass Cavallo are out! Sorry but this is due to safety factors concerning small skiffs.  Catch/Photograph/Release  RULE CHANGES FROM PAST EVENTS. All fish entered must be within the legal size limitation set by the State of Texas. You can only enter a Texas bag limit, ie. Three Redfish 20″ – 28″,  Five Trout (TFF supports “Just Take Five”) 15″ – 25″,  Five Black Drum 14″ and above,  Five Flounder  14″ and above, and Five Sheepshead – 15 and above. You must take picture of your fish using a tape measure or other fish length scale to indicate fish size.

Now lets talk about lodging. There are several units in Pirates Cove and other close by accommodations that are available that weekend, some even have boat slips.  If you can put a group of folks together I would strongly suggest contacting POC Rentals to hold one of these locations ASAP.  Most of the units will easily hold 6 to 8 people making the nightly cost very reasonable on a per person basis.  Please handle this yourself, I personally don’t have the time.  However if I know you are looking, I sure can help with who to contact.

I have been asked by many if John P. will cook up his famous Paella, answer is YES we will have our Saturday Night Big Dinner. John P. will be cooking up his ultra delicious “Purcell’s Paella”, in addition, we’ll also have some fantastic appetizers, plenty of cold beer, and a BYOB bar.

As always, if you need to talk to me ((832) 29(ate)-38 five five)or email me (mgraham(dash)rrsm(AT)comcast(DOT)net) I’m not hard to find.  This email shall be sent thru the EVITE site too so here’s hoping you can attend!  Let us know your needs and we’ll see what we can do.  It will be fun!  If weather is a problem on Saturday, Sunday will be our event! OK

  1. I’m in.
Sounds like a great event as it always is.
I’ll be probably be down down Thursday & Friday prefishing. I’m expecting calm seas so hopefully spending time at the jetties and offshore. Who is going to join me at the farewell buoy searching for sea monsters?

  4. Ray Russ wants to organize the folks who want to use their kayaks and he will get a place at Pirates Cove that will comfortably sleep 5-6 folks. He will head up the kayakers. His plan is to for everyone to trailer their kayaks down to Seadrift (Charley’s) and to fish the Lagoon. Folks who are interested need to contact Ray at 713(dash)875(dash)3944.

  5. I would sure like to see some of the boat captains who have not confirmed as of yet start to do so . That will help some of the guys who don’t have boats be able to arrange their rides. Thanks Puck for all of your help!
