Texas FlyFishers Annual Auction 2017

It is time once again to turn your thoughts to your fishing equipment. While looking through your gear, you realize, you haven’t used that rod or reel in years. Or, maybe you look in your fly box and decide it needs a refreshing new look. Look no further. The Texas FlyFishers Annual Auction will be held on May 6th.

And somebody must have a more relevant photo that I can use for this post….

We are going to change the venue for the auction this year. It will be held at The Bayou Sports Bar and Grill. With well maintained grassy slopes leading to the bayou, you can try your hand at bayou fishing or take in a casting lesson. Another option would be sitting on the covered porch, with a cold beer in hand, swapping fishing tales. Lunch or libations will be available for purchase while you check out this years auction items.

Since the auction is our clubs main source of income, we are asking members to go through your fishing gear and donate a few of your new or gently used items that you no longer need. We also ask that you set the date in your calendar and join us for a for a fun filled day. With some really great trips and items already in hand, your donations will aid us in making this years auction a great success.

  1. I have tried for the longest time to get help donating a TON of stuff for the auction. Some of you may remember that I have been a member for 20 years who moved to San Marcos where I was in an accident that left me unable to fly fish. I do not drive from San Marcos to Houston but would be happy to meet somewhere. My first choice would be to give it all to someone coming to San Marcos for the Clark Thornton trip. I have at least 1/2 dozen rods and reels of all caliber as well as a ton of fly tying equipment and materials

  2. Sadly, for the first time in 29 years, I won’t be able to call the live auction. I’ll be bonefishing on South Andros in the Bahamas. But I understand that Skip will fill in. And he will do a wonderful job. Everyone please remember that this is the club’s primary source of revenue, so give what you’re not using in your tackle closet, and bid generously at the auction. Best to all.
