As a person who has never participated in the Katy Navy fly tying, where do you tie – besides Katy?
This group ties in Katy, and the western edge of Houston, typically SCE flies. Greg C. has another group that ties north of Houston, typically a more advanced tie..
Is it in someone’s home?
It is now, every time. We tried at BPS, Katy Mills, but they have a “no food on the floor” so we changed venues again.

David, based upon the responses you have recieved it would appear the Katy Navy Fly tying meeting is a closed group and not open to all members of the Texas Flyfishers. I meet with Greg’s group at Jacks Grill off I-10 on the first Tuesday of the month, I am sure you would be welcome. Let me know if you have interest and I will get you added to the distribution list. Dinner at 6 and meeting at 7.

I didn’t get the impression that it was closed. I was mostly curious. Where’d the Navy part come from?
The original half dozen participants all were owners of a boat, or kayak, and we kept meeting in Katy, so brainstorming around the table as we tied, with most brains lubricated with ethanol, the name was coined, in jest. But as some things go, the name stuck.
