For many years, Texas FlyFishers members participate or attended the Sowbug Roundup in Mountain Home Arkansas.  To many, like Joe Nicklo, its an annual tradition.

The Sowbug Roundup is a three day fly tying and fly fishing show that is held in  Mountain Home Arkansas. This year Sowbug Roundup  will be held April 14th, 15th, & 16th 2016. This is the 19th year that the North Arkansas Fly Fishers (NAFF) have put on the Sowbug Roundup. The first Sowbug had 20 tyers and 150 attendees. The 2014 Sowbug had over 100 fly tiers and over 1000 attendees.

For trout fishermen, there are some world class streams in the Mountain Home area, the White River, the Norfork River and the Little Red.
