FLOUNDER ON MAY FLY!!
« on: March 31, 2014, 06:22:08 AM »
:)  My first flounder on my own fly....Pinks Shimp !!Whoooie Whooie....That I tied todays ago... So far all the flies I've made, works..! (Not bragging) in freshwater and saltwater.  It's a good confidence builder....in catching fish with your own!!... Soooooo! much fun!   Justin and I fished Christmas Bay Saturday it was a blow out.   Waders fishing --nothing caught,,, we drift almost an hour an caught nothing --winds were 15 to 20 not good on a day after a front in all my fishing experances. Caught this flounder in Chocolate Bayue Sunday wading off a windy points with Joe and Bran,,,Mike Q have to do a trounament here in the fall, because it's windy friendly, if coming from North or South..always places to fish out of wind..Go up the bayou or back around the pond on northeast side. A lot of shell and some wading, but mostly boggie.. Ready for the next one!! "GET THE NET IV"..

That is a great fish.

Do you have a close-up of the fly?

To fish, or not to fish?  What a stupid question!

Glad to hear someone is fishing Chocolate Bay. Forty years ago that was one of the two places I would fish. Christmas Bay was the other.

Have you tried the horse shoes in Bastrop Bayou? Or Lost Lake?

Back in those days, the oysters were eatable. Kind of nice to anchor on top of the reef and fish the deeper water toward the shoreline. Between fish, enjoy reaching over the side get a cluster of oysters, pop 'em open and wash down with a  warm beer.  Then the   pollution moved in.

Congrats Don - nice fish and a nice fly. Looks like the kind of thing that just about anything would eat, redfish, trout, or flounder.

Cool

Is that a strike indicator or a bobber?
