Woven stone fly body

Woven body, the video

This method of weaving the bodies on large stone flies was taught to me by Tony Marasco, of Fly Tyers "Vice" way back when. Embroidery thread is the key ingredient.

I've tied this fly at the Texas FlyFishers' monthly meetings, and at some of the local retailers.
Here is the recipe:
Mustad 75980, size 6-10
6/0 Uni, Black, or color to match.
Pheasant tail fibers, for tail, and wig case
Ice Jig blade,
Embroidery thread, 2 contrasting colors
Hare dubbing, with guard hairs
Head cement

To fish, or not to fish?  What a stupid question!
