Is there somebody willing to lead this one?

I won't be able to.

Does anybody know of lodging in this area that would put up our group?

We thought we had a lead, but it fell through.

I-35 is only a few miles West and has every motel and fast food joint known to man.  The big outlet malls are also close-by to give the spouses something to do.  Cabela's is also about 20 miles or so North toward Austin.  But I don't think that is really what you were asking about?

Puck,
This place was suggested, ( http://7aresort.com/index.php/lodges/ ) to me and may offer what you are thinking of?  You could even work in some fishing on the Blanco.  It's only about a half hour west of where we will be fishing on the San Marcos.  I think they have some smaller cabins that would accommodate our group.  I have not checked availability at this place.  So far, I am the only one signed-up to go on this outing.
Regards,
Ralph

I think posting the date & details clearly on the lead post will help. I know it's on the title. Also, sending out some emails wouldn't be a bad idea. Get Golden, our publicity director to do an email blast.

I might be up for the trip and I may talk Tracy into it as well. Need to know where exactly on the river we are fishing.

Mike,

I don't know if you have Kevin Hutchison's book, but there two different trips in that area.  I have done both and prefer the upper one.  It starts at mile 5.5 at San Marcos River Retreat and goes down to mile 10 at Shady Grove Campground.  The second trip starts at Shady Grove and takes out at the stilt house at mile 15.5.  The upper float is shorter but generally takes longer.  It is more spring like and has a good population of Rio Grand Perch.  The lower section has a lot of flat water that requires a lot of paddling.  I would personally choose the upper float every time.

I also checked with the 7A Resort and the are completely booked that weekend.  They also require 3 nights minimum for a weekend stay.

I have talked to Kevin and we will be fishing from San Marcos River Retreat down to Spencer Canoe / Shady Grove Campground.  Kevin would like us to meet up at Spencer Canoe at 7:45 the morning and he will arrange for shuttles back up to San Marcos River Retreat. If anyone needs / wants to rent a canoe or Kayak we can do that through Spencer Canoe. Everyone will need to chip-in $5 for parking at Spencer Canoe.  Camp sites are available at Shady Grove.

Kevin provided directions to both San Marcos River Retreat and Spencer Canoe / Shady Grove Campground.

If you have any further questions please let me know, I want this to be a great trip for everyone.

I'll mention this trip again tonight at the monthly meeting.

It is coming together well.  Now we just have to get folks on the water.
