Okay I'm in! Signed up and lined up...  Denis - you and me, brothuh! Bring along some of those fancy little flies you tie and your best El Pesacador casting form and we'll be on the leaderboard for sure! Looks like a great group coming together will be a blast... Too bad the all-the-prime-rib-you-can-pack-in-your-greedy-pie-hole restaurant is closed, but barbeque and a few cold shiners sounds pretty dang good.  8)

Thanks Mike for putting this together

George,

I have flies tied, but left my casting stroke Belize.
I am glad see that Scott B is going to be there to defend his trophy.

My wife has been looking forward to somebody else winning the trophy ever since it showed up at our house last year. She doesn't appreciate "reel" art.  I'll post a photo of it later.

Getting closer!

I'm not too familiar with the Caney Creek/ Sargent area... is there a map or address that I can plug into gps? Also... I'm hearing that we'll be meeting at a BBQ joint for dinner and planning. Where, and is there a bar? Time?

Hoping for calm winds and clear skies...  ;)

OK I WILL BE POSTING THIS INFO ON THE FRONT PAGE SO MOST EVERYBODY WILL SEE.  FIRST THE BBQ PLACE HAS CHANGED HANDS AND IS NOW A CHILLI PLACE...I'M IN FOR THAT.  SECOND THE PUBLIC BOAT RAMP IS CLOSED FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF THE ROADS LEADING TO IT. SO WE WILL HAVE TO USE THE CANEY CREEK RAMP. THANKS BILL FOR THE HEADS UP.

THE RESTAURANT IS NOW KNOWN AS JAY'S CHILLI  JOINT. YOU GOTTA LOVE THAT NAME.
BETTER HAVE SOME GOOD HOT CHILLI TOO.

NOW FOR THE HIGHLY CHALLENGED GOGGLE MAP USERS' THE CHILLI "JOINT" IS LOCATED JUST EAST OF THE FM 2611/FM 457 INTERSECTION.

HERE IS WHAT BILL HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE RAMP FROM HIS TRIP THERE LAST WEEK.

"The wife and I went to Sargent beach yesterday to see the beach reconstruction and discovered that the road to the public boat ramp on the ICW is closed due to the construction.  They are offloading sand at the barge dock and trucking it down the beach.  I am not sure if it will be open on Saturday or not.  Also the Iron Cactus has changed hands and it is now “Jay’s Chili Joint.” If the road is closed on Saturday then folks can probably launch at Caney Creek Marina on the creek."

Okay - I get the visual... Twelve guys in one house, chili, and beer. Is there a cot on the screen porch I can use?  :-\

Just checked the Chili Joint website, Mike, and they have a great big ol' ribeye. You'll be okay!

See you all at the Chili Joint...

Can we get an email on directions to our Friday night accomodations? I'm leaving out after work and can offer a ride if somebody wants/needs it.

Thanks.

Got it.

Skunked.

I was in Jack's boat with Jerry, and we covered over 30 miles of water, with no fish seen.

The water was off-color, so even if we did see fish, they wouldn't have seen our fly.

The bait guys we ran across caught their limit on dead shrimp, meaning that the fish were there, and hungry, but our sport required both us, and the fish to be able to see.

I marked a few of Jerry's favorite spot on my GPS, and plan to go back to them later.

It was good to be out on the water.  Fish would have been a bonus.  I'll post some pictures later in teh week.
