FYI- I plan on bringing one each of 6, 8, 10, and 12wt rigs.

I figure the 6 will be good if we get into ladyfish. The 8 is more likely a back-up. And the 10 & 12 will target jacks & tarpon (Lord willing). I'll also have a couple conventional combos in case the wind is bad. Definitely going to be loaded for bear.

How about every one bring a trash bag or two so we could do a little beach clean up when we are down there.

Good plan.  I'll bring a roll of yard bags, and pass them out at the meet-up.

Puck- can you PM me your phone # so I can get in touch on Friday?

Bob & dunkingmidget- can you fellas do the same? I'll PM you my contact info shortly. I'm gonna try to make Tuesday's meeting before the trip but if I can't we can coordinate.

And to answer the questions, my truck bed is open without a cover. I'll have camping gear in big, Rubber-Maid bins. I'm also going to jerry-rig up a rod-rack for driving on the beach and if we need it on the drive down and we'll be good. If it's just 2 or 3 of us and we don't all try to bring the kitchen sink we can put some stuff in the bed and the back-seat too.

I think the earliest I can leave would be about 3 on Friday. That would hopefully put us down near the entrance of PINS around 6:30-7. If we've got a solid fix on where the others will be set up and the beach conditions aren't too dicey I'm pretty comfortable driving down the beach at night to meet up with everybody.

I have two identical 8-wts. I've been looking at a TFO at Bass, but thinking that it's out of reach right now for me.
Hardheads? We don't need no stinking hardheads!

Bob: I have an Okuma Sierra 10/11wt that I don't use. It needs line & backing but you're welcome to use it. It would probably handle 12wt line in a pinch, just not with quite as much backing.

I have an Okuma 10 wt rod & reel that is spooled with sink-tip if someone needs to borrow it.

I do have a spare 12 wt sink tip. If Bob can get reel and backing he would be in business.

Although this has been the one i have looked forward to the longest this year, work has stepped into the breach and completely shafted my plans. I will be travelling on the Sunday morning to a conference so will not be able to make it. Will be working Friday and Saturday in prep :-(

Alex
It is better to have hole rather than an a@#hole in your team. Unless its on your fishing boat :-)

We will have some chalenges in front of us this weekend.  I'll keep checking.

•   Very poor beach driving conditions
The beach is reopened to driving as of Wednesday, Sept. 18th. However, a new storm is developing in the western Gulf. This may elevate tides in South Texas, and create large swells that could produce rip currents. Another park beach closure may occur.
