Pending on work and weather I may go down to the pins a few days early. Try to find the fish, their eating habits and feeing locations. I will set my plans by the 23rd and post them.

I have a 4-dr, 4wd Titan, tow strap, etc. anybody wants to ride down the beach with me is welcome.

I know that Bob S. needs a ride.  I'll let him know.

Finn, I live near 99 & Grand Parkway. When do you plan to leave town?

I live in Summerwood off Lake Houston.

I figure on leaving mid-afternoon on Friday but that's flexible somewhat.

As for gear, I have an open/uncovered bed. I don't plan on bringing a tremendous amount of gear though. As long as nobody brings everything & the kitchen sink I can easily handle myself, 2 riders, and gear.

So re-reading the gameplan as outlined by Puck I'm unsure as to when most people are planning on heading down.

Is the plan to get down there Friday evening or roll out of Houston early Saturday and just fish Saturday afternoon/Sunday morning?

I can't leave early on Friday due to Monday the 30th being the end of the quarter for me but if most people are heading down Saturday I'd be willing to roll out of Houston late at night and be able to hit the beach early Saturday morning.

Like I said, I'm flexible on time but only camping one night means I can travel lighter.

What I understand is that several of the guys are going down early and will be out on the island all day Friday waiting for the others to arrive. That would be Puck, Denis, maybe Scott and I, and Skip and Mary Kaye.  Not sure though. We'll talk soon or at the September monthly membership meeting. Try to be there if you can.

Dave Kelly, I'm assuming that things such as tents & such should be added to the list. I think I want protection from the sabre tooth green-eyed Dog of Doom!  :o

What kind of facilities are on the island beyond the great outdoors?

If we're talking beasts like tarpon & jacks, am I going to need something more hefty than my Orvis 8-wt?

Depends on whether or not you're good company for the drive.  ;)

Address this questionto the whimps who take such thing. Remember your traveling down  the beach for several days.

No WIFI connection, no sabre tooth green-eyed Dog of Doom.

If you need to pee, waist deep in the surf, behind a vehicle, or if you are far enough away from any of the ladies, just be sure you face down wind. Behind a dune for other adventures and experiences.

Bring 3 8-wts, one for the tarpon to break, one for the jacks to break and one to catch the skiip jacks, YES, recommended fo the novice, 16 to 18 weight.

On a serious note.  I always take a 'scorpion swatter' with me, Marcos can get you one or I know  REI carries them.  An a 'snake snore' is good to have if you're standing beyond the second cut and get a visit from a diamond back.

Let's do a quick poll:

1.  1200 or 1300 at Malaquite then move downrange.

2. Camp at Malaquite camp site Friday night and move downrange at 0600 Saturday.

Puck
To fish, or not to fish?  What a stupid question!

You'd have to confirm with Puck... where should we meet & when? I'm kind of on your way, at Grand Parkway/Westheimer Parkway.
