Trip Description: This Freshwater Outing is to the Mountain Forks River near Broken Bow, Oklahoma, about a 6 hour drive from Houston.  We will spend one day (Friday, February 15th) on the river with a guide, Rob Woodruff, who will explain the different techniques for fishing the varied waters in this area.  Rob will also present his well known entomology course (optional), which includes a Saturday afternoon classroom session and a Sunday morning field trip on the 16th and 17th.

This trip is an excellent opportunity for those new to freshwater fly fishing, or those wishing to hone their skills on some of the best nearby trout water.  Note that you will have to travel to Broken Bow on Thursday night to participate in the full program, and that the cost of the entomology course is only $50, the full cost having been partly subsidized by TFF.  Lodging in Broken Bow and all meals are to be provided by the participants.  Information on lodging has been posted below in the post titled "Accommodations for the 2013 February Outing"  It is very affordable either in Broken Bow or near the entrance to the State Park.

Of course, time not spent learning about the area and its buggy residents are open for fishing on your own, and you may elect to arrive early or stay late to get in some extra time on the river.  For this reason, experienced fly fisherman should also consider this trip.
