Scott... glad you're in.

Jared, Mike Q - what are your thoughts? The two of you would make five and leave only accomodations on the floor.

By the way... I did some scouting this past weekend, and found a great chicken fried steak at a place called Lucky's on 306, checked out the new fly shop in Sattler, and took a drive through Rio Raft. Staying on the river will definitely be the way to go. Matt... I'm hoping you'll hang out with us!?  Have to say the plan is coming together nicely!

Did a little fishing, but only caught two. Fish just not feeding too aggressively; only explanation I can come up with was the full moon. Either that or I the fish didn't like my corn fly. May need to try something more conventional - like a live tadpole. :o

Guys

Glad to hear that accomodation has been sorted out. I will be staying at my inlaws place not far from the river, but of course i will hang out at the new TFF Riverside Ranch if the beer is flowing.

Here are the other lodgers at my inlaws...he is pleasant enough, except in the fall when he tends to get grouchy...word is he is not a fisherman

So onto the fishing. Here are the people signed up so far

Name                                    Wade/Float        Lodging
Matt Blyth                            Both                             Own
George Sutherland              Both                      Riverside Cabin

Jared Feig                            Both                      ?????
Mike Graham                        Both                      Riverside Cabin

Scott Breedlove                   Wade?                  Riverside Cabin

Michael Quigley                       ???                     Hotel?

Can you fill in the blanks - also Scott and Mike - are you guys ok fishing as a team?

Matt... Yep the beer will be flowing. Also the possibility of some good scotch, bourbon, coca cola. Alka seltzer in the morning. Mike Q (aka "he who drowns the worms") has committed to the riverside cottage. Glad to see we're expanding the group... that's great. We'll see what floorspace we have, or if we continue to add someone could look into a second cottage. Always the I-35 hotels as well.

Is that an elk or a red stag? Either way he'd look really nice with a set of cross hairs.

Finally, the Reelfly flyshop in Sattler will be celebrating their grand opening on Saturday, and serving "Trout Slayer" beer. Gotta try that!

George,

Glad you got me in the cabin.

Not certain if wading or floating. Likely both if I can borrow Kelley's kayak.

I do not have a way to transport my kayak right now, so I will be wading.  Matt, there are three Mikes/Michaels.  I am fine fishing with any of them and anyone else too.

Scott,

What part of town are you and when will you be leaving. I may end up driving up myself and can possibly carry an extra kayak. I live in Spring Branch, but will most likely be leaving straight from my office on The Woodlands/Spring border (Sawdust/Grogan's Mill).

Scott - Got you pared with Mike Quigley (wormdrowner I believe?)...Mike Graham is fishing with Jared and the other Mike is still uncertain. So far thats three teams...

A question was raised about using more than one fly. We have two options

1) Declare one of your two flies as "the one" - fish caught on the other dont count
2) Accept that two fly rigs are ok but if you loose one fly you cannot add another.
3) Say it is one fly only

I am leaning towards number 2 but I will go with what ever the group decides?

I'll choose door number two, Monty!

Don't know where you guys are planning to launch your kayaks.  They are building a new bridge at the Little Ponderosa crossing. Apparently they put up something to block floating under the bridge (looks like a rope).  Not sure how you would get around.  There really isn't a way to portage at that point.

Maybe the guys at the campground we are staying at have some insight/recommendations.  Alternative is to put in at L&L Campground which is below the bridge.  Be prepared for a launch fee in that case.

Looks like some rain this week is being forecast. What is everybody thoughts on how it will effect the river? Does is blow out fairly quickly and how long does it take to return to fishable conditions?
