Quote from an e-mail

"Hello All,

We are looking for Volunteers to assist with this event. we have leadership already in place. But will need additional support with AED Instructors.  We will have a very nice outing with Cypress Spring H.S. (30)+ H.S. Students at Somerville State Park. We will have to leave supper early to beat the bus there for this Fly Fishing Event. If you’re interested please contact me regarding participation.

April 17, 2015 from 6:50 am until 12:30 pm at Somerville State Park. URL : -    Lake Somerville - Nails Creek Unit State Park - Park Headquarters  Thanks

Greg Akins"

So far, as of 2015-04-02-1100, we have:

Plus 3 more volunteers from TPWD that are not "TFF trained."

This is going to be fun!

Bus waiver in progress.

TPWD rep, Greg, saw the students on Wednesday.  The young folks are excited about the trip.

Nails Creek staff are assisting...  A LOT!

5 TFF volunteers.  List updated this morning.

Weather looks to be cooperating.

More details when I am able to sit down and go through all the supportive e-mails.

This is turning out well.

Topics for the day:
Safety, fire ants, reptiles, sunburn, dehydration, etc.
Knot tying.
Basic casting.
Discussion of flies we want to use and the fish we are trying to catch this day
Differences between conventional and fly fishing.
Some fly tying.

Greg has whistles enough.

A sun shade, Chris, would be great.  I plan to bring a couple of my folding chairs.

Greg also plans to bring tent and tables.

A table to set up demos will also help.  Don . and Puck will bring one each.

The Park has grassy areas we can use.  Via Heather’s e-mail.

I have enough tippet to supply a small army, but do we have flies?  I plan to bring about 50 or so.  Other TFFers my want to do the same.

Charlotte took care of the bus fee waiver with Ron.

I’ll bring a container of fish food, to get the bluegill motivated.

We are meeting at the "day use area."  as close to 0700 as possible.

I've looked at the map, Of Nails Creek Unit and see where I think it is.

I fully intend to ask directions anyway.

The bus with the students is planned to be there immediately after 0800.  And then the fun begins.
