New to fly fishing in Texas
« on: July 22, 2015, 07:01:04 PM »
Originally from South Louisiana. Been fishing most of my life.
Was a commercial fisherman for most of my life, mostly shrimp and crab.
I was probably the only fisherman in South Louisiana using a Calcutta fly rod, but it was handed down to me from my dad.
I love the presentation of the fly with the sun rising, vs the bait casting or spin tackle.
Still go the Louisiana 5 or 6 times a year, family still there, to catch reds and trout, many times on the fly if winds are calm, but cannot wade in the marshes, so have to fish from the flatboat.
Looking forward to meeting other fly fishermen in Texas and having some fun; I am an avid Fly Fisherman but could always use some pointers.

Trying to find a decent price on a Snowbee Wadron Vice if I can find one; just purchase a Teak roll top for fly tying only.
I cannot make the next meeting, but will be there in Aug.

Looking forward to meeting everyone. Hope we can fish together soon.

Let's get you on the water with these cast of characters.

Which trips are you planning on joining in?

To fish, or not to fish?  What a stupid question!

Looking forward to Anahuac

Wade fishing is what I enjoy most but not familiar with the areas in Texas where to wade.
Anything saltwater I am ready for

The redfish rodeo sounds great!!!!

Feels good to be a part of the group

Will see y'all at the next meeting

Take care
