Guide got a 9.8 lb 31.5 inch trout about 15 yards from me. I got a lot trout but no wall hanger. on orange large skitter walk.

Joe

This is one thing which has always burned me up with gear-chunking guides. I'm not paying them to fish and catch a trout like that. I'm paying them for their knowledge, expertise, and to get educated.

General Discussion / Re: Orvis Access Saltwater Fly Line

Okay I used it again this weekend and at definitely sinks.  I was using a foam popper, and it still sank.  It wasn't as bad, but it definitely sank.  I'll have to give Orvis a call.

I would suggest anything from a 5wt to an 8wt with a floating line.  The 8wt could be real handy throwing into the wind that I expect to have in the afternoon.  The river is wider and more open than up stream and is more effected by the wind.  As for flies, good sized Streamers and Poppers for Bass.  I suppose if want to fish for Sunfish, smaller Poppers, Spiders, and Nymphs like you use at the Sunfish Spectacular.  Last year in mid-May, the fellow I was fishing with, had a yellow foam popper (about 2" long) that was killing them.

Just to let everyone know:

I exchanged emails with Charles Osborne, our new webmaster, and he advised me that he has been in a pretty intense training session all week, but will get on to updated & revising the website shortly. Please be patient as he's swamped right now.

Thanks!

Thanks. I noticed the same about the reviews. Nothing negative. I'm planning on using the line again next week and then I'll probably talk to someone at Orvis. I'm going to watch more closely this time to see if it was just the weight of the fly pulling it down.

Yes I agree. I've always had great experiences with Orvis customer service. I bet they'll replace it if I need to.

Thanks.

Outing Chat / Harmon Creek White Bass?
« Last post by Wormdrowner on March 25, 2015, 08:18:43 AM »
Was thinking about heading up to Harmon Creek with Tracy this Saturday. Think the sand bass are still up in the creek or have they moved out to the main lake? Looking for a nice, easy place for her to catch a few and for me to run the freshwater boat a bit.
