Would love to go, but we are celebrating my dad's 77th birthday this weekend. Don't know how many more he is gonna have, so I'd better make the most out of the ones he does have.

No problem! It was a gorgeous morning and a fun time. Great call on going back to the topwaters. I learned something that morning!

Three hardy souls (Dan, George & I) met at 7 AM. The wind was pretty stiff and the pocket was not conducive to fly fishing. We went up the road to Stingaree and hit the marshes east of there. Looked promising, but the only taker was a flounder about the size of my hand, caught by Dan. We tried conventional tackle for a bit and I foul hooked a stingray about the size of a garbage can lid. We decided lunch sounded like a plan and headed to Stingaree for poboys. Scott joined us there for lunch as his daughter had a track meet early in the AM.  Afterwards, he & I hit the marsh just west of the marina. Unfortunately, we only had about 15 minutes of fishing before the skies opened up. About 5 minutes later, we began hearing thunder and decided that 9'  8 wts weren't the best things to hold onto in a thunderstorm.

C'est la guerre!

The pocket is the area east of the jetty. A SSE wind may stir things up. The jetty protects the pocket from anything out of the west.

The wind is forecast out of the SSE. We may think about hitting Seivers Cut or somewhere on the other side if the water doesn't look good. We can look at it and decide in the morning.

Let's meet on Rettilon Rd by the beach. I know several of us are concerned about sinking our vehicles in the sand. We will have a wind forcast tomorrow.

Don't forget to bring plenty of fluids, sunscreen and a change of clothes. We will probably try and find a bite to eat afterwards.

In celebration of my new job, I decided to check out fly reels in EBay. I found & purchased a brand new Tibor Everglades QC for $450. They retail for $750. New job, new reel.....now if I can just save up a few bucks,  I'll add "new boat"  8)

Just an FYI: I cannot do it Saturday the 18th as it's Tracy's birthday and I'll get scalped if I even think about going fishing......
