I hope the weather holds out.  Also, any thoughts on how runoff from the Trinity will affect things?

Outing Chat / Re: Sunday Morning Surf
« on: September 29, 2013, 07:45:06 AM »
Decided to punt this morning. The rain/t-storm chance increased from 40 to 70% and the winds were forecast 10-15 w/gusts to 20. Surf was supposedly somewhat kicked up as well.  I might have taken a chance if I wouldn't have burned $40+ in diesel just to get there and back.  Maybe next Sunday. if it looks a little better. Anyone care to join me?

I use tapered mono leaders and add a couple feet of 12# to 16# fluorocarbon tippet. Tie it together with a blood knot and I'm ready to fish (or break my rod.....  :-[  )

Outing Chat / Sunday Morning Surf
« on: September 27, 2013, 06:28:40 PM »
The weather looks a little iffy for Sunday (40% T-Storms), but if by tomorrow night, it hasn't changed, I think I'll head on down to Galveston and hit the surf Sunday morning around 7 (ish).  If anyone is interested in meeting up, give me a call at (713) 213-eight one five zero or shoot me an email at mfquigley at yahoo.com.

I'll probably stay on the island as I don't know if I want to fool with the ferry.

Great recap, Puck!

If you haven't been to one of the Thursday night get togethers, I encourage you to come next Thursday. Fortunately, the event is over by 8 PM so you'll be able to get home in time to watch the season premier of "Elementary"!  ;D

Well, Jack, John, Joe & I got there around 7ish only to find out that the tournament was postponed until the spring! ???  We decided to launch anyways only to find that part of the bay was seriously kicked up from the NE wind. After about 10 minute, we bailed out and went over to Louie's to launch.  We tried the north shore grass flats of West Bay, but didn't see a thing. The weather morons predicted 10 mph NE winds. Let's try 15-20 instead! Finally, we decided that lunch at Louie's was a better proposition and pulled the boats. Tough day, but glad to get out on the water anyways.
