For those who are interested. The website for Drifters Resort is http://www.driftersresort.com/  Also, Dave Hayward at Swan Point Landing in Rockport has graciously offered to host a get together on Friday night at the shop. I will be contacting him to firm up the details.  Info on Dave's place can be found at http://www.orvis.com/store/product.aspx?pf_id=8e22

Please help Mike and me make this Redfish Rodeo a success!

Why does your dog have olives for eyes? Have you been playing "fetch the martini" again?  :o

As many of your know, on May 31st, four HFD firefighter died in a fire on the Southwest Freeway, not too far from where we have our meetings.  In addition, several firemen were injured and have incurred major medical bills, not to mention other family hardships. Prior to this,  the HFD Softball team had scheduled a fishing tournament to raise money for their team. After the tragedy, they decided that ALL funds raised would go towards helping these brave souls and their families.

Golden & I are trying to get at least a couple of teams, if not a whole division of fly fishers to participate in this event. The cost is $200/team of 4. We would also like to propose that the club consider helping to defray the costs of the teams.  I have attached the original flyer with the details (pre-May31). Remember, the money is going to help the firemen and their families, not the softball team.

Please post your thoughts/interest here. We will need to get the teams together rather quickly, so we need to get an idea of the interest ASAP!

Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday. It seems, despite a tough bite, we all had a great time! Golden caught a few small reds and lost a monster (33"+). Puck caught several croakers and I think another couple croakers/hardheads/etc were caught as well. Kelley caught a nice 24" red, but he was tossing hardware to do it!  Big time thanks to Kelley for shuttling us from Stingaree's back to the marshes. Matt, don't forget to get your tire fixed!!

Next up will be the fundraiser for the fireman injured in the fire off the SW Freeway. I'll have details posted shortly.

Also, keep your calendars open for the Redfish Rodeo on October 19th!!!!  8)

If we end up having to postpone this Saturday due to storms, I will call everyone who has signed up Friday night or email them Saturday morning. If you don't hear from me, then we will be proceeding as planned. In the case of a postponement, we will reschedule for the next Saturday, the 24th.

I concur regarding lightning. Looks like 20% showers & thunder showers at  NWS.gov as of this morning.

I will bet that any storms will be in the PM. That said, let's kick around a backup plan at the board meeting tonight and I will post it here. If we do postpone/abort, I will call/email everyone Friday night. I will err on the side of being conservative. No redfish is worth someone getting hurt (unless it's Golden)  ;D !

Now that the POC one fly has come and gone, what are you gonna do next? How about showing us how it's done in our own back yard! We may not have John P's paella, but we sure can have oyster po-boys at Stingaree's after we whup up on a few reds, specks & flounder! C'mon and sign up!
