General Discussion / I have cabin fever bad!!!
« on: May 31, 2015, 05:52:21 AM »
Somebody please post some fishing shots, stories or something! It's been almost 3 weeks since the first hip operation and 8 days since the second. I haven't run either boat in a month and I think the last time I wet a line was 4-5 weeks ago at Puck's subdivision. I'm about to climb the walls (if my leg would let me!). I've even taking to terrorizing Tracy with my Orvis Practicaster......

If I don't heal up soon and get out on the water, I'm gonna lose it!!!!!!  :o

General Discussion / Navionics Plus chip
« on: May 19, 2015, 04:37:19 AM »
I have been kicking around the idea of picking up a Navionics Plus chip to use in my boats. I like the versatility of using in both fresh & salt.  Of course, I'm not quite as concerned about bottom structure as a conventional angler would be, but I can see times where is would be handy.  The main objective would be improving the charting on my Lowrance units (Elite 7 HDI & Elite 5 DSI). I also will be using at least the freshwater boat for some conventional fishing on occasion.

Any thoughts, feedback etc?

Outing Chat / Harmon Creek White Bass?
« on: March 25, 2015, 08:18:43 AM »
Was thinking about heading up to Harmon Creek with Tracy this Saturday. Think the sand bass are still up in the creek or have they moved out to the main lake? Looking for a nice, easy place for her to catch a few and for me to run the freshwater boat a bit.

General Discussion / Sinking line
« on: February 27, 2015, 07:01:17 AM »
I picked up some Type III sinking line for my old 7 wt. Thought I'd give it a try for both lakes & bays. I've never used full sink before. Any advice, thoughts or ideas on using it?

General Discussion / Texas Fly Fishing Expo - New Braunfels May 29-31
« on: February 25, 2015, 10:51:16 AM »
http://txflyfishexpo.com/

I just booked a room over at Maricopa Lodge for me and the missus. I'll be a couple weeks after surgery, so I won't be fishing yet.  If you aren't going to fish Chocolate Bayou, come join us in the Hill Country.

I'd rather be fishing, but a man has to know his limitations.........

« on: February 08, 2015, 04:36:46 PM »
I'd like to thank everyone for making my dad feel so welcome at the fly tying festival yesterday. He commented to me "I can see why you like spending so much time with this group. Everyone here is so nice!"

Made me feel proud and privileged to be a member of the club!   :D

General Discussion / Cool rod holder idea

This seems to be a good idea for rod holders on a boat. I'm going to give it a try:
