So what the plan for the weekend?  Are we really meeting at 5am on Sat?  Any plans for food Fri or Sat?

I found a seat on a boat.  George, Mike told me to tell you, if I found a seat, that I will be there tomorrow for dinner.  As you know I like my steak medium rare.

Any boat spots shake open for the weekend?  Otherwise I will be in a house full of women in decorating mode this weekend.

I might be able to make the trip after all.  Are there any boat or bed spots left?

It's my daughters 1st birthday party on the 23rd.  I might head over after the party but I dont think there will be any daylight left for me on Sat by the time I get there.  If yall are still around fishing Sunday let me know and we can meet up.  First stocking will be complete by the 23rd.

I fished Brown and Root Sat and Sunday, Rockport / Port Aransas area.  Saturday was a wash.  Water very high and winds even higher (18 – 20 mph).  Water too high to see tails in the AM and the wind made it impossible to cast except down wind also the wind made many little riffles in the waves so visibility was horrible.  I saw 3 fish, one was a big bull that bolted the second I saw him.  My efforts were awarded with a piggy perch though.

Sunday, the water was still up so the tails were nowhere to be seen in the morning except one, spooked him.  I spent the morning blind casting.  I did not see much for bait or movement in the water.  Starting to wonder why I made the drive down.  About 9:15am the sun was getting up and the wind was about half from the day before, so I stood up in my kayak and started looking for fish.  After about 20 minutes I started to see reds.  Landed 2 reds in the next 2 hours, one about 20in the other about 15in.  Missed the set on another 3 and spooking about 8 more, one big bull.  Unfortunately it was time for me to head back to Houston once thing got started.  When standing up in my kayak I could see more bait.  Little black fish were the majority of what was around, going to tie some black clousers for this weekend.

Let’s hope the water drops before this weekend.

Well, I have heard that the 1st stocking is going to be earlier than normal.  Maybe this trip will work out nicely.

I bet dollars to donuts the first stocking is 11/23.  That might make things difficult plus it is frowned upon targeting those fish the day they are released.  How about 11/28?  I would love an excuse to leave my in-laws house.

Well I went back again last night to catch a carp, I like to torture myself.  I stopped by Ifly before to pick up a couple of flies and some advise.  I hit the same spot and there were tons of carp there again.  This time I wore my flats boots instead of my Keens that I wore the night before.  I was thinking I could stand in about an inch of the water in these boots.  This way I wouldn't have to stand at an angle and it would be easier to cast.  This would come to haunt me.  The flats boots do not have the grip the Keens do.  So after about 10 mins of working a couple of pods of fish I decide to move down and walk on the angled concrete instead of in the water.  Well lets just say I slipped and my lower half went into the toxic water of Braes Bayou.  Good thing my wife is out of town because my legs glowed bright green all night long.  Well, after the slipping incident I went back to begging a fish to take my fly.  The begging continued for another 45 minutes or so.  I needed to do something different.  So I carefully climbed up the concrete mountain to the bike path, there was a lot of praying and swearing during this trek.  Once atop with my dignity hanging by a thread I wanted to watch the carp and really observe their actions.  I found a group of 3 large carp and sat there watching them for a few minutes.  Then a large light bulb went on over my head.  But instead of brightening my mood it cast a dark shadow of stupidity all over me.  I realize that I have been making a mistake that I have made hundreds of times earlier in my fishing    career.  Instead of casting to tons of carp I was casting to tons of f**king mullet.  Feeling pretty dumb I packed it up and headed home.  I should have gone bass fishing.

Well I went to Braes bayou lastnight (Stella Link and S. Braeswood)and I saw a ton a carp.  In pods and loaners, just tons.  Well they didnt like one fly I tossed their way.  I had to have gone through 15 flies.  Streamers, nymphs, poppers, dries.....  nada.  And you have to stand in an awkward position because the concrete is at an angle, so my back is killing me after about 2 hours.  I wonder if these were grass carp and I should have stuck a blade of grass on a bare hook.

(Scott, I wasnt going to let you kill this thread  ;))
