We did this in the intermediate fly tying class for some bass poppers (actually frank brought us foam blocks already glued together).  Suspect the manual tells what to do if you have it.  I will try and remember to look and post the info.

Outing Chat / 2015 Guadalupe One Fly?
« on: November 16, 2014, 11:26:14 PM »
I've seen several posts for 2015 outings. What is the story on the Guadalupe one fly?

Trying to figure out when it is so I can get my calendar sorted out.

Nice report!  When did the bluegill show up in that pond?  Last time I fished that tank it was just bass, bass, bass.  Now the bass have something else to eat.  They gotta be happy!

I am Pro Bobbly in on this one.  Will take my kayak as a precaution. Prefer a boat, piroque or other dry vessel.

Have to tell you I only think about chasing rooster fish from the beach no fewer than five times a day after we went in May of last year.  It is a blast!!!

I reeeeeeeeely want to go back.  Best time is May. Got a daughter graduating high school next year so I need to be careful about scheduling a trip down there so I don't start undue stress at home.

Start practicing your running now.  Being slow and out of shape (or old and fat) make it a bit challenging at least that is my experience.

Oh yeah there's also that old "El Pesky Door" place down in Belize and their two for one deal starting in June/July ...

40 mph gusts towards the beach? No problem. Just get out the sinking line so it lands in the water on your forward cast.

Very Nice!!!

Man that sure looks nice. Don't think it would take me more than two casts before I would snag and rip that periscope (GoHo) off the front.  Good thing you are a better caster.

Nice ride.

Golden,

You mis-identified that fly. That's a beendowni10inthesummerstuckinmyradiator fly.  It is usually fished with a "windshield splat bait" dropper or if you are fishing with Hank, a hopper dropper. It can be very productive with the right technique.

Just sayin

The Fly Fishing Film Tour is being held this Thursday at St Arnold's Brewery from 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm.  Looks like there are 8 films total.  In previous years there was a "half time" while they changed out the DVD.

I've seen it the previous two or three years and all the films were great.  Be ready though, the movies will make you will want to go fish! Probably in some exotic locale too.

Cost is $25 and St Arnold's provides the beer.

It is a "Bring your own chair" event.  Got a note from St. A this afternoon saying it is also a "bring your own food" event too.  St Arnold's kitchen will NOT be selling food. >:(

More info and ticket sales here: http://www.saintarnold.com/news/index.html#flyfishing

See you there!
