Outing Chat / 2015 Guadalupe One Fly?
« on: November 16, 2014, 11:26:14 PM »
I've seen several posts for 2015 outings. What is the story on the Guadalupe one fly?

Trying to figure out when it is so I can get my calendar sorted out.

The Fly Fishing Film Tour is being held this Thursday at St Arnold's Brewery from 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm.  Looks like there are 8 films total.  In previous years there was a "half time" while they changed out the DVD.

I've seen it the previous two or three years and all the films were great.  Be ready though, the movies will make you will want to go fish! Probably in some exotic locale too.

Cost is $25 and St Arnold's provides the beer.

It is a "Bring your own chair" event.  Got a note from St. A this afternoon saying it is also a "bring your own food" event too.  St Arnold's kitchen will NOT be selling food. >:(

More info and ticket sales here: http://www.saintarnold.com/news/index.html#flyfishing

See you there!

Is this thing happening?  I think we are three weeks out and I don't see any updates on the site.  I think the topic is locked.

Tying Chat / Fly Tying Light
« on: September 08, 2013, 12:49:46 PM »
Need your help.  I need to get some sort of light to use while tying.  Thought I would ask the great group we have.

What are your favorites lights and why?

Please note: I am not asking miller, bud or coors light.  I am doing my own research there.

Look forward to your responses.

Outing Chat / East Matty Trip
« on: August 30, 2013, 06:00:20 PM »
Took a solo kayak trip to East Matagorda this morning. First time I've been down to the west end since they took out the draw bridge. Also had to find a new launch. Got a work out on the paddle to the south shoreline. Lots of bait moving but the water was muddy.

Manged a dink red on a nice shrimp fly that I got from Frank B at the expo. Caught on street legal trout on a Borski craft fur shrimp that I tied.

Figured out that I need a GPS. Tried to leave through the wrong cove. Luckily I saved a few point along the way as contacts in my phone.

Off the water before the rain started. Good day but I need to find  better entry/exit to east Matty.

Ending the day listening to Steely Dan play at the woodlands.

Outing Chat / Belize Anyone
« on: July 30, 2012, 06:04:37 PM »
A couple of us are headed to Belize in October.  The trip is through Orvis to El Pescador, 4 nights lodging and 3 days fishing. Leaving here October 29th.

Deal is pay single occupancy rates, and a friend goes for free.  Cost $3,070 split between the two of you and excludes airfare to Belize City and some other stuff.  Go look for yourself on the Orvis website.

Here is a link to the page on Orvis.com.  Not sure if the link will work but you're smart and can figure it out.

If you want to go, contact Jason or Jeremy at the number listed on the website.  PM me for more details.

PS:  Not hawking Orvis over any other vendor.  They sent me the email and I followed up on it.

Ifly / 2012 Fly Fishing Film Tour
« on: April 16, 2012, 07:50:00 PM »
Angler's Edge is hosting the 2012 Fly Fishing Film Tour at 7:00 pm on Friday, April 20th and 6:00 pm on Saturday the 21st. Venue is Wildfish Theater at their Post Oak store.

Think these are the same films that were shown at Troutfest a couple of months ago.

Tickets are $12 at the shop. $15 online or day of show.

Don't know why they haven't posted this here themselves.
