Fellow adventurers,

I am in the process of setting up my GPS sending  unit, “Finder”,for this PINS trip.

If you want me to be able to send a message back using my GPS, or you are not on the group going down-range on Friday, send me (vie PM, or e-mail) your cell phone number and carrier, along with the e-mail.

I’ll try to do a message test during the first week of September.

This was an adventure.

We had 2 early launches, and I haven't talked to them yet to see how they did.

I got lost trying to find the launch site.  Google maps had it wrong.  I now have it as POI in 2 GPSs.  I was not the only one to be late thanks to our reliance on modern electronics.

John and Joe were on the water by the time I got my act together.

Since I brought the HAI I was able to tow Tom and Will to the marsh.  During the tow, I was able to convince Will to use the HAI for a while.  I wish I would have taken a video of that.  He was all over the place, and fast.

The water quality at the marsh was not a good as we needed it to be for flies. The wind picked up, and about noon we tried to make it back.  I attempted to tow Tom and Will back, not very successfully :(

By 1300 I called John to let him know I was off the water and headed home.

If you have stories to add to this, please do.

I only took a few pictures, and one decent video.  I'll work on those as part of this post later.

Let me know if we need some more coordination?

Tides for South Padre Island

Which is pretty close to where we will be.

It looks like the low tides, and the best time to travel down the beach, will be close to high noon.

I'm pumped for this skirmish. Is everyone just making a day-trip outta' this experience?

Day trip it is.  Early morning across on the ferry, but avoid it later in the day.

Sabine River Authority of Louisiana   site has the generation schedule.

We will need to check this days ahead of the trip.  I don't expect them to generate, but we don't need a supprise.

This weekend!!

If you haven't fished this river yet, talk to those that have.

It is well worth the short road trip.

At least you got out on the water. That's more than I can say. When are you going to post a snap shot of Raymonds catch and, the pattern he caught it on?

I was well prepared, by bringing fresh batteries for both the GPS and the waterproof camera.  The GPS worked fine the entire time we were on the water.  The camera, unfortunately, was still sitting by the PC, where I had downloaded the D7Ls pictures from last weekend.   :-[
