This was not one of our better trips to this river.  The river and the weather were perfect, the fishing not so much.

My camera died early in the trip, so all I have is a couple of pre-fish photos.

The area had jus had a lot of rain, and a cold front had just passed through.  On the pre-fishing at the state park Friday afternoon, we knew it was slow, but we were fishing!  The few small fish we were able to get to bite took top water flies only.  Most of the time they were spiders, or S1Bs.

4 of us were at the launch at about 0800, after a good breakfast at Isaac's.  We drove the 2 vehicles back to the take-out point and with a quick run back up the river with Mr. Curtis and we were on the way.

Dub landed a 3" bluegill, when his 8" Guadalupe bass spit it out.

I landed the only Rio Grande Perch of the trip, at the state park, Friday.

Rene landed a decent bass in a slow stretch of water.

I have no idea what Bear landed.  I'm hoping he took pictures.

On a plus side we saw plenty of wildlife.  Turkeys, boar, and deer were all over the place.  We saw snakes, but had no run-ins this year.

Let's schedule this again for next year, and just enough later to miss graduations.

Does anybody have nay idea what the flow for our stretch of the river is?

I've dug around, but could not find the flow rate, in CFS.

Date locked.

Let's plan this one.  Last year was a rain out.  But we still caught fish.

We have a good date.

The topic is unlocked, and we are ready to plan this trip in detail.

I've answered Bear's question in a PM.

I've talked with RD of our Anahauc group.  They will be convoying up on Friday.

I have booked a full service site at the state park, and others have motel rooms.

My white kayak is the one I'll be taking this time.

The Curtis' have canoes and kayaks to rent, if you still need a watercraft.

A kickboat is not recommended.

I'll be tying spiders and S1B today.  Does anybody have a special request?

Updated again.

We are good to go for the livery service.  Mr Curtis will shuttle us again this year.

I plan to support this one.  I plan to make it on the Tuesday lunch and dinner.  We can put in a video, or we can talk.  Who else can we get to come out?

"We are planning our annual Cub Scout Day Camp for the Big Cypress District in Cypress/Northwest Houston and wanted to see if your group would be interested in talking to around 400 Scouts about Fly Fishing!

Our Big Cypress District Day Camp is scheduled for June 10th-13th.  We have two sessions scheduled each day (Morning and Evening) with a lunch/dinner break at 12pm and 6pm.  We generally have about 200-250 Scouts attend the Morning Session and the rest during the Evening Session.

During their lunch/dinner we invite guest speakers and entertainers to meet with the Scouts and provide education or entertainment (or both!) about a variety of subjects.  We've had guest speakers talk about mountain biking, animal conservation and even frisbee dogs.  Our "theme" for this year's camp is "Surf's Up at Cub Bay" and I thought this would be a great opportunity to talk about fishing."

I think we should go ahead and float the same section we had last year.

The fishing was great, ad the parking was secure.

I'll call our livery service and set it up.

Any objections?  Deadline for those will be this Thursday night.....
