Kayak, kickboats, and canoes, are perfect for these waters.

I've use all 3.

1.  Do you want to cover more water, or expore?
    a.  Use a kayak.

2.  Fishing with a partner, or like to take a large cooler?
   a.  Use a canoe.

3.  Stealth,  minimum gear?

Outing Chat / Christmas Bay solo kayak trip
« on: September 01, 2013, 11:28:24 AM »
Launched late, about 0830.

There was no wind, but plenty of vampires.  The water was perfectly clear with some floating grass.

Hooked up 3 times, but landed no keepers.  One rat red to hand on a spoon fly.

Covered 4 miles, for very little fishing activity, but it was a great day to be on the water.  No work, no chores..  as Scott B. reminded me..

These are the values that all young men should have, hence the continued need for the Boy Scouts !

Good story !!

About Us. / Re: August Meeting

That was good!

I saw friends at this meeting that I haven't seen for months, and in at least one case, a year or more.

Rod building is always a popular table.

Some of the flies I saw tied were simply amazing.  We set up for 8 tiers originally, and we wound up with 13.

Steve discussion on the finer points of casting was well received.

Aaron's table seemed to stay crowded.

PACK and Reel Recovery also has a lot of visitors.

Pictures later.

I'll be looking forward to "next time."

Flies are meant to be fished.  I will bring some to give away.

I plan to bring my "culls" from my fly boxes.

Some are flies from friends, and others are ones that I have tied too many of.

This may be a good time for others to do the same.

I brought about 80 flies and only used 2.

Two croaker caught on a coyote, and 2 more on a redfish crack.

Protected from the wind.  The water was slightly off-color, but fish were caught.

Excitement at the launch area.

By the time the main group showed up Mike F. was on the water looking for the early birds.  You know, the ones that said they would be on the water at 0600.
