I will only share the GPS points for launch with those that sign up.  This place is on public water, and can easily be be added to those "best kept secrets"

I've tried to place an order for 8 packages along with some micro-chenille but was having difficulties, so I called "customer service", and was immediately placed on hold.  Update to follow.

Outing Chat / Trip to Sabine River generation canal, Sunday 2015-02-07-0230
« on: February 09, 2015, 06:25:07 AM »
Hit the road at 0230 and drove 200 miles to get on the water by 0620.  The lighting, weather and water, were perfect.  I got to my favorite spot by the rocks and saw that the rocks were covered in patches of white slime.  The wading birds must have been there the night before.  I turned off all of my lights and waited, blind cast, and waited, and waited…..  Nothing.  No bait.  No birds.  No fish.

Once the sun came up I moved back to the truck for breakfast, and coffee.

I was back on the water as soon as I had my belly full.  This time I started at the rock, but decided since there was still no action to head down to the “washtub” where the two pieces of the river come back together.  A full sink line with a bendback was behind the kayak the entire trip.  Not even a bump.

By 0930, I realized that this was not my day, packed up, and drove the 200 miles back home to unload and clean my gear.

Next time!!

Fly Fishing Gear / Found: McFly Foam
« on: February 08, 2015, 05:03:23 PM »
Does anybody have any "crabby" colors of McFly Foam?

I'm willing to trade finished flies for material.  Or buy it outright.

BPS was useless in this material.  All they had was "eggy" colors.

Broken Bow Okla - February 13-15th, 2015 (Cancelled for 2015, no LEADER )

As of today (2015-02-07) there was nobody ready to lead this trip.  This was to be next week but we never got a good handle on this one.

Shall we try again next year, or should we look at another venue?

Can we get a link to the TPWD site that tells us more?

A Parmachene Belle or Jock Scott.

You bring the materials, and I can start on those late Monday night, and I might be able to have something resembling a fly by Tuesday at the end of the meeting.

Oh wait...  that is over 5 minutes.   Not going to tie it.  :)

10 practice rods

6 volunteers

50+ students

With the moving casting targets and energetic young people, we had a good time.  The 2 classes we supported passed by so quickly I was't sure we were really done....

I must thank our Volunteers:
Marcos (Prez)
John P. (Vice prez)
Mike G. (Comunications)
Micheal M. (Trout guy)
Greg A. (TPWD contact)
Don H. (TFF, Vet and NASA)

The 13th we try our hand at tying the fly.
