« on: April 11, 2014, 10:24:11 AM »
:)  OK> for fly fishing for the bull reds and big jackcarvelle at the Jetties... I have a 10wt rod and a big reel..I know how to catch these Bull Reds on conventional..but I would like to learn how to catch them on fly rod , twenty pound plus reds and Jacks.  I have caught them in 5 to 15 of water along jetties...So, what do I use for tippet an what flies to use... I will be happy to take any of you pros with me and show you were these big reds  are if you show me how to catch them...with a fly... These bull red are like a bull, when they run , they will give you a workout... so will the Jacks...   One of things on my bucket list...!!

Planning this trip too.. samething I will take people with me.. try to catch big reds and jackcarval on fly at the jetties.  I have caught many big reds on 2oz jig with Gulp shrimp tail jigging in 30ft of water around the edges of jetties with trolling motor on a moving tide.. 2oz rattle traps works too...casting paralle to bank with 20# brade with a bass flipping stick,  I think a 10wt rod and heavy flie would work as well...never tried but will do this time. I have caught these big reds maybe six feet from bank in about five or six feet of water.  Do catch big trout sometimes. I have landed a fifty lbs tarpon at the jetties, fishing for trout, also forty plus pound Jack Carvelle fun on a fly... bring you lunch!!!:)

:) The black popper did the trick early-7am - 9am,,,Present the popper two feet from moss on the banks ,,let set for a second or two an look for the V wave coming from the bank and then hang on. Known stop until around 9am when the front moving in with stronger winds..

Mike, I put my card on you door bell sign when I left,  one fish was not 22" inches, more like 18", here is the  photos of Popper I used  to catch these from the northeast side of Duck Pond the mouth of it.. next to pier.  I really have improved my casting thanks to You Tube videos.  I will still take lesson on meeting nights. Thanks for a great time...GTN

can one fish out of a belly tube?

Correction on the Marina...Called Yellow Cotton Bay Marina,  You really don't need a guide, just take me. The fishing  hole is about six miles from boat marina. Look on Google Earth call Yellow Cotton Bay a lot of grass and mud,,,not muck shell at all. Here is were all the trout and reds are caught on plastics and topwater.  I know a fly rod would work great in these waters.   averge depht out off channel is 3 to 4 feet.. great fishing.

My POW broke off from cheap fly rod...I will get better gear...working on it.. Need more practice too!!! Totally different from conventional reels & rods. Even in freshwater and saltwater... Time on the water will make a differance. After June I will be on the water...I still had fun...Justin caught a nice Flounder,,, and Russell fished also.  Russell and I had trouble in the mud bogg. I fell down and couldn't get up, So Russell came near to help an end up, we both got stuff in the mud...So with our powers together we pulled thru.. I have a bad back and he has knee problems, but we made it.  This is another reason a buddy fishing system works, If I was by myself. I probably would still be standing out there.. Thanks! Russell!!
