Outing Chat / Pond Fishing for Bass& Perch
« on: March 02, 2014, 07:48:45 PM »
:'(  I carry my fly fishing gear with me all the time in case I see a place that looks like it will hold bass and perch. I have found over the years of  fishing for these guys live in same condition in most ponds... A bass and perch must have structure to live in... I have notice the ponds around the housing areas and even the park ponds don't have any structure at all in these ponds, People wonder why there no fish in them or why the fish don't grow.. This is the #1 structure no fish... Fish must have a place to live, I mean minnow, crawfish, catfish, bass, and perch.  Without structure no food chain will grow....  So. Whoever is in charge of Park ponds in housing areas please put some lay down dead trees, rocks and a little moss along the banks and even some in deeper water... In a year the difference will show.  I will post some pictures of a healthy pond just with a little of plants and some moss along the banks..

I would like to Thank, Mike Quigley and  Bill and Allen for sharing their home to the member of TTF.  I want to welcome Justin and Colton to the TTF.  Justin fished in my boat with Russell.  We have a stuck in mud problem will have to tell on next meeting.
Justin caught and nice trout and I lost a Sheep head when my lower eye on fly rod fell off.. and another fish came up shaking it head  and throw the fly.  Remember fish on the day of a front not the day before.  I have loaded the boat with fish on the day of front...just before it hits.  Fish goes on a feeding frenzy.. and anything you throw at them will be eaten... Good Luck!! I regrouping for the next trip. here is a few pictures  :)

« on: February 28, 2014, 09:57:00 AM »
:)  I'm have the boat ready and I will be going down this afternoon to Sargent to fish the tournament this weekend.  I live in Alvin, if any one wants to ride I will be happy to visit.  I will take the boat, if anyone wants to ride to a fishing spot I can only carry four people...but you will have to wade... I don;t mind drift fishing but I think wading is best.  call 713-816-0884  I will leave Alvin around 16:30 today, will eat Chilly also.

When we went down fishing, We just fished blind and caught a 120 trout all on top water lures--She Dog Silver/char sides....nothing else would work... I think marina we launched the boat from was called Yellow Jacket Marina... If you have room. I would like to tag alone...I'm retiring in Jun2014 and be available ... I owe you a fishing trip too.

Welcome to  the club Simon, I have been with the club for a couple of years and I happy I joined. I was working in Denver for the last two years and got hooked on fly fishing streams. I did some bass fishing with a fly rod as a kid growing but never mastered the cast as good as our members, but have improved some an will be taken some classes this year to learn the correct way to cast. I tie my own flies for bass and saltwater fishing as well want to take some classes on this subject to improve my skills.  As usual I bring my 21.5 Shallow Sport with me on outings any time you want to jump on board just give me a call.. 713-816-0884..This goes to all new and old timers like me in the club..
See on the water...somewhere!
