First you would need a span of Clydesdales to  drag a couple those to the open fire roasting pit.
Then, what cuts of meat would you get off a shrimp that big?

Tenderloin of shrimp.
Fricassee shrimp chop.
Smoked shrimp hocs.
?????

Thanks for the reminder. I had thought of that  one but could not remember the name.

That  might be a little advanced. She has never picked up a fly rod in her 70 years. But she wants to learn, she thinks.

Does the name Darwin Atkins ring a bell with anyone? He would be a west coast tier. Active I know circa 1990.

Anyone have suggestions/recommendations for an online video for beginning fly casting  someone can view until I can get a rod in her hands in a couple weeks?  I need to get her ready of the SFS this spring.

About 10 or more years ago, on the Montgomery County Fly Rodders web site, I remember reading about fishing this type of condition, for cat fish. Since they feed by feel a lot.

When you get  heavy runoff the big yellow cats will go on a feed.

There was a picture of a 45 lb yellow cat this fisherman caught on a fly rod and a rattling fly.

If telescoping crappie rods was the information you found, then google failed you.

Tenkara is the Japanese equivalent of our fly fishing. True it is a telescoping rod. Japanese streams are like the bayous, narrow. No reel or line storage device. The line is the length of the rod. It is attached to the end. No tip, guides. Fancy cane pole.

I guess MPH should be the question.
Three miles of river in 6 hours or slower would be about right.

What is the normal distance covered per hour when floating/fishing a river like the Colorado near La Grange?
