Does the name Darwin Atkins ring a bell with anyone? He would be a west coast tier. Active I know circa 1990.

About 10 or more years ago, on the Montgomery County Fly Rodders web site, I remember reading about fishing this type of condition, for cat fish. Since they feed by feel a lot.

When you get  heavy runoff the big yellow cats will go on a feed.

There was a picture of a 45 lb yellow cat this fisherman caught on a fly rod and a rattling fly.

If telescoping crappie rods was the information you found, then google failed you.

Tenkara is the Japanese equivalent of our fly fishing. True it is a telescoping rod. Japanese streams are like the bayous, narrow. No reel or line storage device. The line is the length of the rod. It is attached to the end. No tip, guides. Fancy cane pole.

I guess MPH should be the question.
Three miles of river in 6 hours or slower would be about right.

What is the normal distance covered per hour when floating/fishing a river like the Colorado near La Grange?

Mike...
Your comments about the quality of the water and looking at the condition of the fish, speaks well about the health of the bayou.

There is a sanitation facility southwest of the intersection of T C Jester and Tidwell. Are you fishing upstream from that?

I'm signed up and like the idea of an overnight - especially if there is a local bar scene involved. I wonder who is playing at Gruene Hall that night? Hmmnn...

No money can change hands inside the meeting building. That is in the clubs agreement to adhere to the Baylands policy.
