Outing Chat / Re: White Bass Run
« on: January 19, 2012, 04:46:51 PM »
Typically white bass is a lake schooling fish. It run up rivers and creeks to spawn. Looking for a gravel bottom.  Nail Creek on Lake Summerville has been the usual place TFFers go.

The up river shoals from Lake Buchanan, the Perdinallis around Hoopers Hole, below the dam to Lady Bird Lake in Austin. I would try the upper reaches of the lake where the LLano empties.

Read 2Coolfishing for some other places up state.

Events and Information / Re: Dredge Dumping in West Galveston Bay
« on: January 05, 2012, 05:46:23 PM »
David had me set up a page for Conservation. You can view it from the navigation menu on t he home page.
I can post whatever you want. It would be nice if you would send me stuff in ANSI text format.  That's what the web recognizes. Converting from PDF or DOC can get to be a hassle.

Thanks for the update. Yes it does look positive.
If you haven't already done so, I recommend you let GBF know that TFF appreciates their effort and concern in this matter and offer support.

First you would need a span of Clydesdales to  drag a couple those to the open fire roasting pit.
Then, what cuts of meat would you get off a shrimp that big?

Tenderloin of shrimp.
Fricassee shrimp chop.
Smoked shrimp hocs.

General Discussion / Re: Online video on basic fly casting for beginners.

Thanks for the reminder. I had thought of that  one but could not remember the name.

That  might be a little advanced. She has never picked up a fly rod in her 70 years. But she wants to learn, she thinks.

Does the name Darwin Atkins ring a bell with anyone? He would be a west coast tier. Active I know circa 1990.

Anyone have suggestions/recommendations for an online video for beginning fly casting  someone can view until I can get a rod in her hands in a couple weeks?  I need to get her ready of the SFS this spring.
