General Discussion / Venice 11-8 & 9, 2013

Bear and I had good trip to Venice, La. We caught reds on fly and baitcasters. Will post more later. Here are a few pics.  The drain was like fishing in a bucket. The reds just kept milling around in front of the drain.

« on: September 18, 2013, 09:31:10 AM »
my fishing partner is having back surgery on Oct 7th. He is not sure he will be ready to fish. I have two days booked with guides on poling skiffs in Venice, La. I plan to leave for Venice on thursday 7th and return on Sunday 10th. I am guessing 9 hour drive.

So if someone is willing to go and be on standby. Let me know

General Discussion / Getting ready for Tarpon on fly
« on: August 12, 2013, 07:53:59 PM »
I went to POC thinking I would try for a jack or bull red on fly. Didn't happen.. but did get this tarpon on live croaker in 40 feet at POC jetty with Curtiss Cash aka Lowtide Guide Service. I did get a feel for what fighting a tarpon is like.
Estimated 90 lbs.

General Discussion / Just read "Passion for Tarpon" by Andy Mill
« on: June 07, 2013, 03:28:49 PM »
I just finished reading the book generously lent to me by one of our members. It is a $100 book. I could not put it down. Highly recommend it. All 475 pages.

I ordered the DVD  "Chasing Silver" which there is a "teaser" DVD with the book. I think would make a great meeting presentation.
