Wow! What a trip Matt - I shall live vicariously through your fly fishing adventures!  8)

Good list Puck...

I will have two VHF's in the event a vehicle needs one. Also a tow strap, a set of jack boards, shovel. Cannot have too much of that stuff.

Also - I am willing to bring several packages of speckled trout fillets (full disclosure - frozen, beginning to age and need to be eaten) if there is interest. Plenty to feed everyone. I'm thinking a quick/ easy fish fry on Friday night. Maybe Puck will let me use his propane burner and cast iron skillet; I'll bring all the ingredients and canola oil.

Deal? Interested?

Guys - looks like I  must back out of the Bolivar marsh trip - regrets. Seems I have a grandchild introducing himself to the world this week.

Have fun without me!

Okay I'm in... will be fun!

Any idea how far it is from the Stingaree to Yates Bayou? Looks like about 1.5 miles to me... might be a fun place to paddle into.

Took a look at the signup sheet, Pavon has signed up twice... he must be very excited!

Fished a lot, ate a lot, drank a lot, laughed a lot!  8)

Can't wait for the next one!

Okay, guys, looks like the time is upon us! Ready for the weekend... will head to POC this evening, fish tomorrow (not seriously), then looking forward to an evening grilling steaks, enjoying a few adult beverages, and listening to the TFF laughter and smack as we try to learn what fly others will be using while not divulging our secrets!

So here I sit today at work, heads down with too much to do, with my boat and truck in the parking lot fully loaded with gear, coolers, fly rods. I have to admit my heart is not really  into departmental budgets today!  ???

Looking like a banner weekend gents! Looking forward to it!

Hello Flyakker...

Welcome! Sounds like you're ready to join the fun! Looking forward to meeting and fishing with you. Always a fly fishing event on the calendar, both saltwater and fresh, and once you get that project boat complete I'm sure you'll never lack for friends!

Seriously, take a look at the outings and jump in! Best way there is to meet and get engaged.

Gosh Les - your offer to tie flies for people is pretty tempting, but... hey, wait a minute.... what if you're really trying to tie a really bogus fly for everyone, an thus sabotage their fishing and ensuring your victory as you fish one of your real secret flies???

I'm afraid I'd end up fishing with something like this:

Thanks for offering, but I think I'll tie my own!

About You / Re: Another New Guy
« on: June 30, 2014, 06:36:21 PM »
Hello Mark - Always great to have "another new guy." We were all new guys and beginners once, some more recent than others. Practicing in the yard armed with videos is a good way to start. Might also consider getting some casting lessons, you'll find that to be an instant accelerator. They can critique your stroke and offer corrections. There are several in the club, and we often have someone providing a informal clinic prior to our meetings.

A really great way to start is to go fishing! Come on out and join us - and welcome to a new addiction!
